Jared
You'll want to be fishing from 6:00am to 9:00ish, then it dies.
Evenings from 6:30ish to just before dark.
Make sure you use fluorocarbon line, I use P-Line.
We troll untill we see a boil, then coast close to the boil and cast spoons, we use Kastmasters.(blue/silver-3/4oz.)
If the stripers continue to boil, you will likely be pulling in fish every cast.
For trolling right now, we use deep divers, capable of 20-25' depth.
I like the Norman DD series, this last weekend we used Yo-Zuri 5 1/4" baits with good success.
I don't fish the Northern part, but if your putting in at Halls or Hite, there is a LOT of action between, seems to focus on Good Hope Bay.
Heres a picture of a Norman I like a lot

Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
We caught around 30 stripers Sat-Sun morning.
A few smallmouth, one at 2 1/2 lbs
and these walleye--4lb8oz and 3lb1oz(my wife or daughter always catch the biggest fish)

Thanks for the response and ideas. Growing up my whole life fishing for Trout, the Striper's thing seems to be frustrating me since I am trying to use the only techniques I know and they aren't working for this species.
Nice fish! Thanks for posting the pics.
Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
We troll around 3.5mph(forgot to mention.)
Do you have a fish finder? They are very useful, often when we spot a school of stripers and troll through them we pick up doubles.
I grew up fishing for trout as well, mostly Flaming Gorge. We've spent over a year re-training ourselves.
Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
We'd always head to the back of canyons and find a big alcove or a long sheer wall. We would then chum the hell out of the water with cut up pieces of anchovie. Then we would drop about 6 poles in the water at a depth from about 20 ft down to 50 feet with a half of frozen anchovie on a big bait hook with a lead head. Then it was a waiting game. When a school would come around, the action was non stop for about 10 minutes.

I have a fish finder, but never installed it on my boat. (Looking to sell it, brand new  ). I only have pretty much a ski boat that we will try to put us in the right spot and just sit. Probably try heading into the coves near where we are setting up camp at and see what we can do. I would love to start coming home with a bunch of fish from there each time we go out.
Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
Without using your fishfinder I'd try to find boiling stripers.
If you see a boil--ease into casting range, don't drive into it.
Use a 3/4oz. blue and chrome kastmaster and cast over the boiling fish, then reel in fast.
even after they quit boiling on the surface, you can still cast in the area they were and catch fish.
often times in a boil, you will catch fish on every cast,
Our boat is not a fishing boat either, but, we catch fish on it:haha:
Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
also--when it's this hot--get the fish on ice asap.
filet as soon as possible.
We ate walleye last night, great tasting fish.
Re: Fishing Lake Powell Help
one last note--we camp on the lake.
In the evening, cast an anchovie half or a nightcrawler off the back of the boat,
grab a beer and wait, you will catch fish, usually catfish but we have caught smallmouth, stripers as well.
