"The Crack" at Wet Beaver Creek near Sedona
This past weekend a small group of us headed out for a day trip along the Bell Trail. This leads you into the Wet beaver wilderness area which is just a bit east of Sedona on the other side of I-17. We hiked to what is known as "The Crack" its basically a tight canyon of red rocks in which the Wet Beaver Creek flows through. Its a popular spot since its a nice swimming hole with cool clear water and lots of shade. Also popular with the cliff divers, but that's not really my thing. The crack is about 3.5 miles out, its just a ways from where the Bell Trail crosses the wet beaver creek. Yes I realize how fun saying all these names are. :) There some elevation gain getting there, but it makes the return trip easier. We spent close to 3 hours down at the creek relaxing and getting in the water as well. Highly recommended if you are in the area, yes there is a crowd, but nowhere near the crowds you encounter in Oak Creek especially at slide rock, its a nice alternative.
