I can't believe there are still school buses with kids out there that are stranded... Horrible news. :eek2:
10:00 PM, been home for 3 hours, still pissed. :frustrated: :angryfire: :chairshot: pissed: :wallbash: :flamer: :flipa: :kboom: :yousuck:
I heard some were on the road for 6 hours. Didn't say from where to where though.
Drove from here to Richfield and it was like summer! I was in shorts and a tank top. Watched my daughters game, then came out to a blizzard!!!! What a nightmare drive home. We are headed there again right now (state tournament) and it's suppose to snow really hard today.
Friggin' nutz yesterday. I had to take two of my coworkers home. They left their vehicles at the office. It took us 2 hours taking the back roads. Oh man I have not seen it like this for sometime. I looked out this morning and all my neighbors are stuck and cant get out of their driveways and there are no plows in sight. I am going to look out again at about 11 and see if it looks decent and check the roads. Thank goodness for four wheel drive. :eek2:
I had to drive 10 blocks, it took me 6 minutes instead of 5.
It sucked. I even slid a little.
That said, my radiator is blown..... Hopefully I fixed it last night.
SLC to Midway... no problems (4x4)
It took me about 10 mins to make it to the stop sign from work which was about a mile away. Took me another 10 mins to get back to the office, I ended up staying at one of my coworkers house. :eek2:
I assume you meant to post photos but just forgot. :slobber:Quote:

I didn't take the freeway. My dad and I went snowshoeing last night up Provo Canyon and I took state street all the way to Redwood road and then home to Saratoga Springs. Took a couple back roads to avoid the mess at the Smiths intersection and it was pretty much a normal drive for me. I did stop to help a couple cars make it up the icy road to Redwood. Got home about 11 pm the power was out and my wife and I had dinner in the dark then at midnight power was on. I did get to plow through some small snowdrifts though, I wanted some of the action too!
When I'm at work and have a few minutes free, I'll often have a look at the latest aviation weather sequences for various spots in Utah: CNY, SGU, CDC, SLC (Canyonlands - Moab, St. George, Cedar City and, yup, Salt Lake City). The funny thing is that they just don't convey how much snow is piling up, or what kind of shape the roads are in. SLC at 7:00 last night was light snow and -2C, and I remember thinking that didn't sound too bad - but apparently it was enough to cause chaos...
By the way, last night the wind was gusting to 56 knots in LAS. At least the temperature was up at about 20C.
Ya it was kindof weird. I was expecting to have to abandon my Rodeo and hike to my house. I figured I would just get as far as I could and break out the snowshoes and hike home. I pretty much made it without any problems (except helping people). I didn't see any of the wierd stuff except 2 cars that were abandoned by the road.
I felt bad for not going out and helping people get unstuck after I made sure my family was ok.
Okay, that is weird synchronicity. Just last night I was listening to the live tower feed from LAS on my iTunes, and I was just amazed at the wind checks. And of course they were getting PIREPs of moderate to severe turbulance all the way through 10,000.Quote:

Crazy 24 hours!
I had to pick my wife up at the airport. Her plane had to circle SLC for 1.5 hours until it could land.
We were headed home (Northern UT County) when we started hearing all the horror stories on the news. We decided to camp it at my parent's house in SLC instead of sitting in the car for 3+ hours.
When we got home today there was a 5' snowdrift to greet me. Our place is on the edge of a development just below Cabela's, and there is an open field and we got a lot of the snow from it.
Thank goodness for the elders quorum lol.
That is so sucky people had to drive hours to get home!
Bless my little 2.5 mile commute!
I've been working mostly from home the last 6 months, except for the last two weeks, when the commutes have been the worst. :frustrated:
You are making up for all the hours you haven't had to spend in the car.
