No dust for you
It must have rained over the weekend. Several isolated mud puddles on the trail, but no problem getting around them and they'll be dry very soon. I had to go see the new stairs and look for moose. Only one, and he was on the patio at the lodge looking pretty brassy.
You can go either way on the new stairs:

There is still lots of water in the creek. The lower part of Ice Box has been rerouted and is rideable, the Xterra doesn't go here.

The short course for the mountain biking portion of the 2011 Xterra has not been marked as of today. The long course includes the climb up the Sardine Peak switchbacks, and down Coldwater Overlook, as well as most of the track shown here:
Here are my numbers from what I'm pretty sure is the short course mountain biking. Don't laugh at the time, I had to take pictures, yeh that's it, I had to take pictures:

Awesome pics, it was way too dark for any footage on our ride last week.
I guess this raises a question, with Xterra this Saturday, do you think this area will still be open Wednesday night? Will it be closed for any trail preparation?

You know with all of the racing up there this summer, I have noticed the trails getting wider and wider....I for one do not like this trend, I prefer the tight single track with lots of rocks to challenge my riding skills.

yeah it has pissed me off all year that the trails are slowly turning into doubletrack in some areas, they have really cut back the growth in order to give the "racers" some passing areas..hopefully this trend doesnt continue because I really miss some of the tight thick singltrack that has been cut back 10 feet.
