Way to go guvna. Be an example.
Knowing what I know about heme and iron metabolism and oxygen attachment...I question his line of thinking. CO doesn't displace Fe it binds to the iron (Fe). CO has a higher affinity for heme than O2 does. That is why carbon monoxide is so deadly. You can't have a hemoglobin molecule without the iron in the center. And no virus is going to kick iron out of its spot.
Also what he suggests near the end with giving blood transfusions... following his logic of iron overload form all this "misplaced iron"...you would exasperate this by giving a patient a blood transfusion.
Yes you would increase their ability to get oxygen to the tissues for a bit but what would stop the virus from "kicking out the iron" in the blood you just transfused? Thus setting more of it free. Nonsense
I do think the virus could potentially disrupt the process of synthesizing hemoglobin but I can't find any article that currently speak to this. If this were the case a hallmark lab test would be decrease in red blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. But that is not listed as a hallmark lab result for COVID patients. Lymphopenia is this is a decrease in one of 5 white blood cell types. And decrease in platelets. Or thrombocytopenia.
I do think a hyperbaric chamber could be beneficial maybe... but they are in shorter supply than ventilators.

Do you really need to post these kind of memes attached to genuine pictures, Old No 7?
Do you find that funny? Do you?
Rockgremlin found it funny too, so there's a pair of you, and I'm disappointed at the latter.
Do you really know what the Red Cross does across the world? Do you?
No, you don't, otherwise you would not be ridiculing them.

Omigosh lighten up!
The memes are only intended to make you laugh. If you're not amused, ignore and scroll on.
Here's a tip I've learned about @oldno7 - the more you ask him to stop doing something, the more he's going to do it... only with renewed purpose now.
Oldno7 is not ridiculing the Red Cross, he is ridiculing Sleepy Joe Biden. But being a foreigner I'll give you a pass on not understanding the nuances of American politics.
And yeah... it was funny. YMMV

Heres the swiss flag

Joe biden, in the picture is confusing the swiss flag with the red cross.
You see, he's senile and has dementia, doesn't know the difference.
Thinks the US is being invaded by the Swiss.
now get your hand off my shoulder and quit sniffin my hair.
Coronavirus: China Floods Europe With Defective Medical Equipment
- In Spain, the Ministry of Health revealed that 640,000 coronavirus tests that it had purchased from a Chinese supplier were defective. In addition, a further million coronavirus tests delivered to Spain on March 30 by another Chinese manufacturer were also defective.
- The Czech news site iRozhlas reported that 300,000 coronavirus test kits delivered by China had an error rate of 80%. The Czech Ministry of Interior had paid $2.1 million for the kits.
- A spokesperson for a hospital in Dutch city of Eindhoven said that Chinese suppliers were selling "a lot of junk... at high prices."
- "No. 10 [the residence of the British prime minister] believes China is seeking to build its economic power during the pandemic with 'predatory offers of help' to countries around the world." — The Daily Mail, March 28, 2020.
- "The brutal truth is that China seems to flout the normal rules of behavior in every area of life — from healthcare to trade and from currency manipulation to internal repression. For too long, nations have lamely kowtowed to China in the desperate hope of winning trade deals. But once we get clear of this terrible pandemic, it is imperative that we all rethink that relationship and put it on a much more balanced and honest basis." — Former UK Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith.

the test kits sent to EuroLand are basically totally defective. Yet we're supposed to believe stats from China? Kind of sets up a dilemma. Either China knew it sent defective test kit and kept the accurate ones for themselves, or China is using the same defective kits on their own people.
