point big-ass-cairn
went for a short hike out in lake mead again. parked at redstone and wandered west thru the rocks, then hit a draw up into the mountains behind (south). some real nice polished rock. reminded me of mosaic canyon in death valley in color and texture. nice. then i see a huge cairn up hi on the ridge i just came thru. so i went to introduce myself and see what was so cool that a 6'+ cairn was called for. nice views down pinto valley, across to the muddys, bowl of fire, and bitter ridge, and back towards redstone and lake mead. very nice. the cairn is discernible from redstone parking lot if you scan the ridge to the west. and its an easy walk up w/ a great money shot up top.

Cool pics. That topography is very interesting, and it looks like a great place to hike around. Especially since there's no snow on the ground there. :frustrated: :lol8:
