Bloodying Iran has been in the works since 1979. While I don't think we need to get into a full blown war, a good skirmish where we bloody them, reduce their overall military capability - might be a good thing for that entire region.
Trump actually has been very restrained....remember early this summer with Iran seizing oil tankers? Shooting down our drone? A nice little list of bad behavior on their part...the leftist media was clamoring for conflict...calling Trump chicken shit for doing nothing in response.
Yeah, well now that they walked right up to our front door (the embassy) and started throwing firebombs, it's game on.
I don't think we're going into anything large scale...the Iranians are full aware that they'd lose all that is important to them. Trump would tell the military to do whatever it takes, whatever they think is necessary...no stinking "rules of engagement" or a bunch of lawyers hovering over the proceedings.
Trump just told them..."Gloves are off...you hit us, we'll hit you back even harder". I think the Iranians will back off.

Israel Wanted To Kill Al-Quds Leader Soleimani But Obama Tipped Off Iran.
Back in 2015 Israel was reportedly on the verge of killing Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian Quds Force but the Obama administration warned Iran of the imminent attack.
The report says Israel was “on the verge” of assassinating Soleimani three years ago, near Damascus, but the United States warned the Iranian leadership of the plan, revealing that Israel was closely tracking the Iranian general.
The incident, the report said, “sparked a sharp disagreement between the Israeli and American security and intelligence apparatuses regarding the issue.”

Not sure how accurate.

This is the right response.
"UDPATE: President Donald Trump says the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani was not undertaken in an effort to begin a conflict with Iran.
Speaking to reporters in Florida for the first time since the drone strike on Soleimani, Trump says: “We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war.”
Trump also says he does not seek regime change in Iran, but the nation’s use of “proxy fighters to destabilize its neighbors must end and it must end now.”
Trump adds that targets of possible retaliation have been identified “and I am ready and prepared to take whatever action is necessary.”

I hear you. Lindsey Graham and the War Party hawks want that. Trump at his word says this is for the acts they committed, not to goad a war. I think that's fair. Drone strikes and Tomahawks and hell raising are fair in my mind, but not full war.
Now, if Trump pulls a wag the dog, bad, bad news for his voting coalition, yes.
Yea--there are some---cough---cough--bolton.... graham,mccain^^^^^
luckily at least one has no voice in this.
I do not believe that our country has the stomach for a war with Iran..........unless they attack us in a major way. These precision strikes are morally palatable for most so long as a reasonable explanation is given and the US response is measured response that kills bad guys, not a bunch of civilians.
Sounds like several other high ranking iranians are being taken out as we speak, one in Yemen, another North of Baghdad.
Just letting them know we've got eyes in the skies all over the place. Every time these guys use their phones or get in a car we've got a little red dot on 'em.
Probably been that way for a while...they just took it too far. Obviously, poking Trump with a stick is not a good idea.
Indeed...political realism vs. political idealism. Trump is a realist...that's why I like him so much. He's not one of them...he's not like all these other men have been.
The problem with idealism is that it's too easily exploited.
