Search for missing woman.
I read about this in the sunday Spectrum and realizing that I had heard helicopters flying and landing just one block away from my house, decided that I'd take a look? I called Wa. Cnty. Sheriffs Dept. and didn't get a reply so strapped on my pack and drove up toward Tuacahn. I hiked what is listed on the Wash. Cnty. Redcliff Desert Reserve Map as "Gunsight". This is not the actual gunsight trail that I know, but more of a route. I saw no tracks or evidence that the ridge had been searched. Once topped out after climbing through the hidden bowl near the summit I ran into a Labrador and handler. I believe that there were 3 teams of dogs on top. I then departed and followed the eastern ridge of Red Mountain for a ways then dropped into the snow filled plateau below. I then saw several tracks. I continued south and descended the southern nose of Red Mountain. Headed to IC and reported my GPS track and mapped out what I had done. I volunteered and was asked to return yesterday and do a rarely done route which ascends a deep drainage on the southern end of Red Mountain. I was teamed up with a member of the high angle Wa. Cnty. SAR and up we went at about 1;30pm yesterday. My hope was to see some sign, but was shut down again. It began snowing as we headed north and my intended route was to descend the "actual" Gunsight route. We found the route down and got off the mountain in the late afternoon. It was a cold and blustery day, and I believe there were 5-6 dog teams north of where my route took us. I sure hope that they might have success today?
