‘Not fair’: World cycling bronze medalist cries foul after transgender woman wins gold

Uggh. I have many thoughts on this that I'll just leave in my head.
Basically, I agree with that it's just not fair. There is such a thing as physiology, and no, it's not transphobic or misogynistic to say that men and women are built differently. It's just biology. Look at that podium picture and tell me I'm wrong.
The day is coming where there will be no gender specific anything. No women's section in the department stores, no clothing tailored specifically for women, no gender specific sporting events, no gender specific locker rooms or restrooms...etc, etc, etc.
Mark my words. It's coming. Hell in some parts of the world it's already here. Obama made a pretty strong attempt at homogenizing restrooms when he was in office. I'm confident it will come up again at some point.
Welcome to the new "normal."
I've watched enough SI-FI shows about time travel to know the future dress code is basicly a spandex onesie with black boots.

That swimsuit is killing me. That's hilarious.
I reckon we just have to throw them a bone every now and then.
I almost lost it when I saw that Star Trek picture.

Andraya Yearwood hears the comments, usually from adults and usually not to her face.
She shouldn't be running, they say, not against girls.
Yearwood, a 17-year-old junior at Cromwell High School, is one of two transgender high school sprinters in Connecticut, transitioning to female.
She recently finished second in the 55-meter dash at the state open indoor track championships. The winner, Terry Miller of Bloomfield High, is also transgender and set a girls state indoor record of 6.95 seconds. Yearwood finished in 7.01 seconds and the third-place competitor, who is not transgender, finished in 7.23 seconds.
Miller and Yearwood also topped the 100-meter state outdoor championships last year, and Miller won the 300 indoors this season.
Critics say their gender identity amounts to an unfair advantage, expressing a familiar argument in a complex debate for transgender athletes as they break barriers across sports around the world from high school to the pros.
"I have learned a lot about myself and about other people through this transition. I always try to focus most on all of the positive encouragement that I have received from family, friends and supporters," Yearwood said. "I use the negativity to fuel myself to run faster."
Connecticut is one of 17 states that allow transgender high school athletes to compete without restrictions, according to Transathlete.com, which tracks state policies in high school sports across the country. Seven states have restrictions that make it difficult for transgender athletes to compete while in school, like requiring athletes to compete under the gender on their birth certificate, or allowing them to participate only after going through sex-reassignment procedures or hormone therapies.
The other states either have no policy or handle the issue on a case-by-case basis.
Yearwood acknowledges she is stronger than many of her cisgender competitors, but says girls who are not transgender may have other advantages.
"One high jumper could be taller and have longer legs than another, but the other could have perfect form, and then do better," she said. "One sprinter could have parents who spend so much money on personal training for their child, which in turn, would cause that child to run faster."
Miller, who declined to be interviewed for this story, has said that if she felt a competitor had an unfair advantage, it would simply push her to try to improve.
One of their competitors, Selina Soule, says the issue is about fairness on the track with wider implications. The Glastonbury High School junior finished eighth in the 55, missing out on qualifying for the New England regionals by two spots.
Soule believes that had Miller and Yearwood not run, she would be on her way to race in Boston in front of more college coaches.
"We all know the outcome of the race before it even starts; it's demoralizing," she said. "I fully support and am happy for these athletes for being true to themselves. They should have the right to express themselves in school, but athletics have always had extra rules to keep the competition fair."
The Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which governs high school sports in Connecticut, says its policy follows a state anti-discrimination law that says students must be treated in school by the gender with which they identify.
I've decided my gender identity is that of a male wanting to be a female who has transitioned to a male and needs to compete against females to feel safe. In my complicated self created identity I look and act like a male but compete against females and need unrestricted access to all female facilities including locker rooms and showers. My preferred pronoun is lord.
But seriously how difficult is this.If you have a dingaling you compete against others with a dingaling. If you have a chacha you compete against others with a chacha.
^^^I agree with you completely... When are you going to explain that to the rest of your team?
Except in my humble opinion it's not the dingaling it's the balls... testosterone is a major game changer, just ask the 1980 East German women's Olympic team.

Talk about not fair, this is straight up child abuse. Nothing better than torturing your own child to push your scientifically illiterate agenda.

Every House Democrat but one has co-sponsored a bill requiring schools to allow male athletes who identify as transgender girls to compete on female sports teams.Democrats’ Equality Act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law. Among other things, the bill would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls.
Illinois Rep.Dan Lipinski, the only pro-life Democrat left in the House, is also the only one in his party not co-sponsoring the Equality Act.

Man, 'aint that the truth. Within the last year I've seen at least half a dozen DUDES all glammed up like girls at some supermarkets...apparently King Soopers allows employees to show up dressed like clowns.
There are two totally gay movies that are actually pretty good..."Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and "Brokeback Mountain".
Priscilla is good because it's got Hugo Weaving in it, and it's really funny. Kinda like watching a cartoon.
Brokeback is good, too. Great acting. The biggest problem with it however, is Jack being beaten to death by anti-gay thugs at the end...I thought "C'mon, couldn't they have ended this tragic love story WITHOUT the stereotypical homophobic BS? That scene just shut the movie down in its tracks, but it's good otherwise.
Congratulations TT, you've discovered the "Dead Lesbian Syndrome". It's a tv trope. Gay characters are usually killed off. It's way more prevalent with lesbian characters but applies to men as well.
You can also apply the "Magical Queer" trope to most shows with a gay character. The magical queer always saves the day with sassy remarks and gets the straight character to the prom on time to dance with their crush.
It's really pretty interesting the way media depicts gay people and how gay people actually are. It's like Hollywood has an agenda or something.
ahhhh

That is a nuts. The idea that testosterone is the only physical difference between male and female is absurd.
The strange thing is you have an actual biological woman in Caster Semenya being barred from competing because she is naturally hyperandrogenous, while we are letting men compete against women in weightlifting of all things because they say they are female.
That's the thing. It is not just testosterone that is different. Male and female bodies build muscle and store fat differently and our genetic code plays a large part in that.
If it were just a matter of suppressing T or adding T this would be a different debate.
As a very competitive person an ex-professional athlete I don't understand how you could recieve any joy or sense of accomplishment out of such a win...

Uggh. Not this dude again. I remember last year's debacle with HIM. I hoped it would stop, but no.
I fail to see how telling it to compete with people who share the same biological make up is discriminatory in any way.
Dems have a history of discarding constituencies as new ones come along. Coal miners for enviros. Blacks for immigrants. Workers for immigrants. Now transgenders for women.
Will women see this for what it is? The joke of men dominating female sport.
