Anyone been through Yankee or Boltergeist lately? I will be in the area next weekend and am considering a descent.

Last year we did Yankee Doodle, Boltergeist, Johnson Arch, and Hidden Star in early March. It snowed the 1st night.
Boltergeist might have a few small pools but are easily avoidable. Great short canyon.
Yankee Doodle had 1 chest deep wade pool that we had to wade through. We did it without wetsuits, it was cold but we warmed up right away.
If you decide to do Hidden Star (also in the area) there is 1 keeper pothole that can be climbed over by the highly skilled, otherwise you'll probably get wet just the 1 time.
You could easily do all 3 in half a day.

I don't know if using the last 3 years as an indicator is a good idea with canyons. We have a lot more water this year and I expect many canyons to have a different personality this year.
Agreed. I am expecting a different picture than in previous years. We are headed down south to bike but wanted to add a canyon or two as well. I would fully anticipate water in lower Yankee Doodle. We will go prepared and I will report back.

Yankee Doodle has washed out a lot of sand compared to years past. Had a friend go through a few months ago and had 2 swims, 2 chest deep wades and a semi keeper pothole. Nothing overly difficult or dangerous, but a lot of cold water
