Vandalism at Delicate Arch?

We've seen times where photographers lit fires under the arch for the perfect shot, but left burn marks. We remember when the arch baggers rappel from Delicate Arch and leave rope grooves. Does this night time photography trend fit the mold of vandalism?

It's one thing to vandalize for the sake of a really cool photo. But in this case, fireworks under the arch look completely idiotic. Who's lame idea was this?

Stupid. Many people would argue the sparkler is a minimally impactful use of a "firework", but if every moron who wanted a picture like this brought their sparklers up there, it would be a mess. Painting with light can be done with simple flashlights or other light emitting devices; it's not necessary to spoil the beauty with that crap. The photos by themselves without the sparkler would be fantastic.

Just for some clarification, it was burning steel wool rather than a sparkler.

No, it wasn't me. The photographer came forward on one of the FB threads and said that it was steel wool.
