Utah May 2011
Had a little over a week, visited the Swell, Hidden Splendor area hiked along the Grand Gorge of Muddy Creek, then up on top via the Knotted Rope chute and along the rim above Miner's Hollow etc. Drove around and visited fun little Crack canyon. Don't like all the signage and the fact it seems to be becoming an ATV haven. Used to have no signs, no improvement and I liked it all a lot better.
Went toward Capitol Reef, drove up the Caineville wash road, camped, some photos in Cathedral Valley but didn't have all that great light for Temple of the Sun and Moon. To the Visitor center for a free permit for Hall's Creek, then hiked Upper Pleasant Wash, Canyon to kill some time, hot but very nice stream and some historical signatures from 1898.
Drove down the Notom road, lots of flowers, camped then down the wash to Halls Creek narrows for a couple of days. Photography, some exploration in general area, just hanging out and relaxing.
Once out of there drove toward the Cedar Mesa. Closed the car door on my foot so that limited my continued hiking ability ( nothing broken just swollen red and sore).
Drove and did a little petroglyph photography from John's Canyon road just below Muley Point, etc.
Equipment note, wore the "hiking" version of the Vibram Five fingers into Halls Creek, carried a pack etc and had no problems or foot pain, I did add some Spenco 3/4 length orthotics because I am so flat footed to protect my arch. I was surprised because I am a dedicated hiking boot wearer, may change my ways a little now.
Here are some pics, big photo albums up at Hikearizona.com

That's the Big Alcove in Halls Creek Narrows not far along in that section--taken at the back with a wide angle (7mm equivalent to 14mm) --if you don't have a wide angle you won't get it all in.
