Alta a couple weeks back.
First time I have ridden down an untouched corduroy ski run. That could get addicting!

I gotta get out my Fatty. I hear the city of Draper has a plan and a machine to groom the Corner Canyon Trails.
Ah crap...that almost looks like it'd be fun. I get cold so damn easy, though.
Ha!...says YOU! Aside from buying into that, everything you said is appealing to me. I do ride my bikes a lot...but that cold wind on my face makes me unhappy...I'd have to pick out days that are above freezing to enjoy it. I used to ski tons, but I stopped because of the cold...and I really want to preserve my knees.
Seems to me that there are two kinds of skiers...those that have had knee surgery and those that will. Not me.
Sombeech. Whenever you're riding on the BST if you want someone to go with you pm me. I bought an e-bike best money ever spent. Absolutely love it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...76c503682b.jpg

My dog, Dice and I went to check out the BST in Ogden and the Christmas Tree this weekend.
My wife is taking him right now on a run up the same trail.

We did ride 365 twice but this picture was taken on some of the trails groomed specifically for cross country skiing. 365 is roughly 2.5 miles of trail. Best ridden counter clockwise. Pipeline extends up a bit maybe another 1/4 mile past the left hand fork for 365. At the end of pipeline you can (if conditions are right) head up that hill and ride on cross country tracks.
There is another section that splits off Pipeline to the right...can't remember the name....something flats. It doesn't get much fatbike use I was told that is because it has a steep hill that ends up being a hikeabike and it returns to the yurt.
My Fatbike PSA: If you go make sure your tire has a noticeable wrinkle, low psi. The wrinkle in the tire gives you better traction on the snow. Don't leave a rut in the ski trails or fatbike trails, if you do turn around. 3.8 tires or bigger. IF you ride the cross country trails stay on the sides so you don't irritate the skate skiers but becareful not to ride in the classic grooves set for cross country skiing. Pay the $6 use fee. Or get a 5 punch pass for $25. Worth the cost in my opinion. Hopefully if they have good support they will add more trail. (PSA off)
When we rode last night temps were 24F and trail was firm. It was excellent fatbike riding. On Saturday when I went temps were barely above 32F and too soft to ride the cross country tracks and the fatbike specific trail was soft but still rideable with that wrinkled tire.
What size tire did you get with your new ebike?

Most people ride with too much air in their fatbike tires and wonder why they can't "float". I usually start out from the parking lot with around 6 psi, especially if the snow has been packed down. The higher up the canyon I get, however, the softer and less-packed the snow gets, the more air I need to let out. By the end I'm usually 0-1 psi.
Yep and most people don't carry a low pressure gauge so that is why I say you should see a wrinkle. Softer the snow the less air you need..considerably less. Firm snow more air but tire should still wrinkle a bit. Same thing goes for riding sand dunes. Which need either to be frozen or after a good rain storm. Now that is a fun fatbike ride!

I carried a low pressure tire gauge when I first started fatbiking. I don't anymore. It helped in the beginning but, I do it enough that I can go strictly by feel now. I do carry a hand pump, though. Many times I have to add a bit of air back in for the long descents back to the car.
From this morning's ride up AF. The fresh snow from yesterday's storm was amazing!

I’ve got a set of the Vee Tire Bulldozer 26x4.7 and they work great.
Let me know when you want to come down this way. I'll be your guide. We could have a Bogley day.
Hands down this morning was some of the best biking on snow I have ever experienced. Conditions were perfect. Tires needed to be firm just a hint of a wrinkle. Starting temp was 3F when I finished I think it had warmed up to 24F.
I rode up Pipeline and found the Mule's Ear Connector rode it to the top. Local Moose have added a bit of challenge by post-holing the last bit of the Connector trail. When I reached the cross country trail I turned around and headed back down to 365. Roughly 6 miles of trail. Did it twice.
Next time I might try that Flats trail just to see what it is about.

Yesterday morning riding the BST from 12th Street headed North. I might post some video later, pretty uneventful but just to show you the conditions. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c8538688c8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c696951108.jpg

Mounted up this tire on the front last night. Looking forward to trying it out. Options for 27.5" fat have been limited. Finally the list is growing. I've been riding Barbegazzi's but, while they are fast rolling and lite, I'm wanting more bite and traction. Terrene Cake Eater 27.5 x 4.5".Attachment 91490
The Forest Service groomed much of AF Canyon yesterday, so I made first tracks on the Timpooneke Campground loop in the afternoon. So amazingly good! Even with the grooming the snow is soft and deep and I had to drop the rear air to about 2 psi for the long climbs. Go get it!

2nd tracks down the SFLDC #252 and Winter Pass #252A trails Saturday morning. So much fun! The Forest Service had groomed them Friday afternoon and they had set up pretty good by Saturday morning. Not the easiest of trails to get to. Or, more accurately, not the easiest to get back out of. It's 4 miles and 1,400' of steady climbing to pedal up to the Summit of the Alpine Loop, followed by the 1.7 mile downhill run on #252. To get back up to the summit you pedal up the Cascade Springs road. It's super steep and not an easy pedal during the summer with no snow. Add in deep snow and, if it's soft and chewed up by snowmobiles, it's a real slog. Sometimes I've had to push the bike up nearly the entire way. Saturday wasn't too bad thankfully.
