Camping in Moab with Scouts
I was invited by my brother to head down to Moab with his scouts. Even though it was Easter weekend, Jeep Safari and all that, it was really a nice time. The crowds didn't really interfere with anything we did and when we ran into a lot of jeeps it was great entertainment.
This was our spot, it filled up on Friday and Saturday though, with an unwelcome unloading at 12:30 am Saturday morning with music playing and chopping firewood from a group of college aged kids. Other than that it was pretty nice and only @3 miles from the highway, just south of the airport.
This is also at the Bartlett Wash trailhead

We then took the boys to the Monitor and Merrimac bike loop just a few miles away. Very easy slickrock riding with some singletrack dirt:

After that we visited Tusher Tunnel for a geocache just over the hill from where we were camped:

We dropped the boys off at the top of the Paved Bike Trail near the highway (here's an older link to that trail)

And then I drove down and met them at the sand hill in front of Arches National Park entrance and let the boys run wild

The next morning we headed into Arches National Park to beat the crowds and hit Delicate Arch along with a few others for lunch

Then headed into town to show the boys the swimming hole, a few of them even got in.

Back at the trailhead to the swimming hole, or the Power House Dam, right across the creek is Potato Salad Hill, the popular rock crawling obstacle. We watched some of the fun for a bit

Then the scouts headed back to camp and geared up to ride Bartlett Wash, while I took a solo ride on the Pipe Dream trail:

It was a good trip, no injuries, and no vandalism caused by the scouts :cool2:
