Culterally, they are a very modest society. Not sure why you'd think that they were weird. Kinda like comparing pay-per-view porn consumption in Provo and the majority religion there as a cause and effect thing.
It is controversial for India/Nepal especially given how they are culterally doesn't seem to jibe with seeing that stuff. But, the erotic art is typically very old, and, a national treasure.
Can you imagine if the David went on tour in the U.S.? How many cities would ban the public from being able to see it?
We're a crazy society are own darn selves. So puritanical, but, such an appetite for other stuff too...
