Haven't made any plans yet....I'll wait and see how hot the desert will be....
I'll be in Bozeman MT visiting some friends. On the 4th we're going to hang with some folks up in a remote cabin on the slopes of the Crazy Mountains.
I have plans for the weekend after the 4th. Hopefully all the snow in the Uintas will be gone. I have made a couple of other posts in here and on my blog of what it looks like.
http://ryanfreakingwood.blogspot.com There is so much snow on the North slope that it's unreal. Hopefully I will get to fish in two weeks
We have had the days scheduled off for almost a year is all. We do have backup plans in case of emergency. We were up there yesterday and the snow at the Washington Lake turnoff was about 2 feet deep so that would still put us over 3 weeks away. But, oh well... thats what you get when you put money against nature. Last year around this time, the only lake I saw with ice on it at all was Butterfly. Oh well.
I'd say you're a bit off on the 1" per day estimate. It was a steady 2-3" before the temps really cranked up. Today we've already lost 4" at the Trial Lake snotel since 7am. Notice the one day that it went up from the storm last weekend.

Ibenick, I love your face. You just made my day.... Seriously.... you did.
In that case, these links should make your week.

Oh man, I have been looking for this for so long. Tony Grove.....Ben Lomond Trail.... Dry Fork.... WOO HOO!!!! I really appreciate that. That did, in fact, make my week.:nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod: :nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod: :nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod: :nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod: :nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod::nod: :nod::nod::nod:
Nice, looks like a bit more aggressive than I was guessing. That's a lot of snow melt
So if it stays 2-3" a day as you say, and if the conditions stay the same - then it will mostly snow free within 2 1/2 weeks...but Trial is at 9840 ft. So anything higher than that will obviously melt slower probably closer to the 1" range.
Wolf Creek Pass above Oakley last weekend.

You're really stuck on that 1" statistic aren't you. :haha: Check the snotels, even at 11k it's been 2+" per day, even with the cold temps we've had up until now. Five Points snotel at 10,920 has gone from 36 to 32" just today. Lakefork is the only one with really big numbers still, currently 58" from 61" this morning. As of the 4:00pm reading, the Trial Lake Snotel at 9,960' is now down to 33" from 40" at 7am this morning. So yeah, melting pretty fast, even above 10k. I'd bet money that the reading will be zero by end of day July 4th, hot weather and melting snow makes the rest of the snow melt even faster.
And I forgot to throw in what else is going on for 4th of July weekend in Utah.
AERIAL FIREWORKS ARE NOW LEGAL IN UTAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool2:
Although, they still won't allow bottle rockets, roman candles, and cherry bombs. Oh well, I'm just happy with something cooler than stupid spark showers. Now I can't get a ticket for buying fireworks in Wyoming :naughty:
A few months ago I put Lone Peak on the calendar for the weekend of the fourth. I moved it to mid-July a few weeks ago and now expect to move it to August...
Pretty interesting snow year.

well, I'm planning on hiking Oly and watching fireworks from the top. maybe stay overnight up there, haven't decided on that yet. Just hoping there won't be a mass of peeps up there.
Looks like I'm heading to Boise, Idaho. My father has been in the middle east for almost 10 years and he's heading there to visit family (his brother and sister). I'm taking my boys (13 & 16) to see him and the rest of the extended family.
Doing all the Provo Freedom Festival stuff. If anyone is running in the 10K or 5K, look for me at the second or third water station. I'll be watching you all sweat, I mean run by, as I hand you a glass of water. :haha:
The USAC Sprint Cars are in town Saturday night at RMR. So that's where we'll be...
FYI: They have a good fireworks show after the race.....
