It appears those urban coyotes have it easy. Here's some snaps of some Cedar City coyotes:

Trails had gotten a little icy in spots by the time I got out on Tuesday, Thermometer in my truck read 39, so I expected a bit soft and some slush... nope icy and slick! Maple was slick, Ann's a little better to the tunnel, Ann's up was decent, Canyon Hollow heading down was good, Road out to the Equestrian Center was slick and scary.
Tonight Acca and I hit it again. The few inches of snow that fell yesterday has been lightly packed. Traction was great! Probably the fastest that I have been on snow heading downhill. Maple had a couple slick spots but good, Ann's to the tunnel was fast and grippy, Ann's up was about as good of traction as I've had, Canyon Down was great, and finally Creek View was fast. Great conditions reat ride!
anyone know if creek view got packed down in the past couple of days?
A little warm weather makes me think about how the lower trails might be. Probably a mud fest...
The lower trails are still a no go.
I rode CC today. Some of the lower south facing slopes are now open if you choose your trails wisely. Today was the first day I thought the trails were dry enough to ride. Rattler to Ghost Falls is open, Gas Line is open, Creekview is open, lower North Ghost is open, Quail is open, Aqua Duct is open and the CC Road is open and that's about it.
You can look at my Strava track from today and see exactly what is rideable. Monday's rain really melted a lot of snow and Tuesday's winds helped dry the mud.

PLEASE DON'T RIDE MUDDY TRAILS! When a trail is listed as closed it doesn't mean you couldn't ride it. It means you are an asshat if you ride it. This report is for mountain bikes and not fatties. FWIW - I live in Corner Canyon and ride the trails almost every day. I'll try to keep this current for the next month or so.

My son is looking for something to do for his eagle project. I'm thinking maybe he could do a project in corner canyon? Thoughts? Does anybody have a contact?
Just swing over to city hall, downstairs on the west side, and talk to the folks in the Parks Depertment.
Or snd him over - I need some yard work... I'm getting old, and I think that counts (not old in Axe terms...)
I rode up from the equestrian this morning. Thought I shouldn't have brought the fat bike for a bit. All the south facing lower trails (gasoline and rattler) were dry, but will be muddy in spots during the day. From the ghost falls bridge up is snow covered. Including all of canyon hollow. Anything in the trees has a trace to 2 inches of snow. The fat bike did great. Could probably put a lower loop together including bear canyon bridge on a skinny tire. Going to be some mud during the day in places.
I wouldn't ride CC today. When the trails thaw out about noon it will be a muddy mess. Give it at least another day.
Asshats riding CC today....

Hate cleaning off mud. [emoji24]
Skinny tire or fat in the morning?
Skinny should be fine provided you choose your trails wisely.
Yeah I ended up taking the fat bike. I was too lazy to pull my other bike down from the garage hooks. The lower trails are good. Mid to upper are muddy or snow. Maybe by the weekend it will open up a few more options.

Don't get suckered into riding up Ghost Falls, the trail is good for the first 1/4 mile but soon turns into a quagmire. Ghost Falls will need at least one more week to dry out.

Trails rideable? I may try the extreme low trails tomorrow.
I would stay off eagle crest for a few more days. Mostly dry, but the squishy and muddy spots are not worth the hike-a-bike. Maple isn't too bad, but has a few spots too.
I had the day off yesterday so, I decide to go try out the Eagle Mountain trails system. Completely dry, if you're looking for some mud-free riding.
Any good? I'll have to look at your Strava.
They were OK. Not sure it's worth the drive more than once or twice a year. Kinda confusing in spots. I printed off Bruce's ride guide from utahmountainbiking and still missed the trail here and there because in some places there are trails going every which way.
If I rode them again, I think I'd pedal up Treadstone (the way I came down, looking at my Strava route) instead of Hidden Canyon. Up Hidden Canyon kinda sucked, plus it felt like I was going up a downhill trail.
I've ridden the Eagle Mountain race course several times and I really enjoy it.
Pedaled CC yesterday afternoon. Looking at my Strava flyby, I passed right by you Iceaxe at the corral on top. I think I said "Hey" or something but didn't realize it was you!
The queue today at the top of the new Levitate downhill.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1531004828.jpg
Test rode a new route last night. It's not an officlal trail as yet but will be by the end of the season. It's the new sewer service route from Mercer Hollow to Peak View via Hog Hollow. I don't know what the trail folks will name it but I will forever refer to it be the name given on Strava. There's just nothing like telling your friends how you set a record riding the "POOP CHUTE" last night.
I rode the new Trail Hollow yesterday. It's a return for Levitate that loops eaat back to the top. This should take half the pressure off South Maple. It's a good trail.
Horse owners picking up their horse poop? HA HA HA HA HA, good luck with that!!!

Horses are not really an issue in Corner Canyon. I ride 5 days a week and 60 to 70 miles a week in Corner Canyon and my average encounter with horses is about once a week.
The real asshats are the trail runners with headphones, which is over half of them. They can't hear you even when you scream, and then when you startle them they get all bent out of shape and pissy.
Mountain bikers with headphone can also be real asshoats, but they are kind of rare in CC. It's easy to tell the douchebag MTB riders because they are kind enough to wear headphones so they are easy to identify. :roflol:

I can only hope that is urine....
Good pressure for an old guy!
Any one have trail update conditions. Has the canyon recovered from the last storm?
