My son in Park City, his favorite place to ride now, too bad it's an hour away. This is his first year in the mountains and he went from struggling on anything remotely technical to making me scared for his safety a little, and that's a good thing.

The dogs couldn't come on my river trip last week, so after getting home but before unloading my gear I took them out for a ride/run.

Brutal Climb. Perhaps the most tired I've ever been on a bike ride:

Short video from last nights ride up AF Canyon.

I headed up Perry Canyon today for the first time, riding solo. I was taking so much time headed up because there were so many photos I had to take.
I only made it up a couple of miles and it started to rain, and I'm not sure I knew where I was going anyways.
I'll write up a Trip Report later.

Corner canyon is sure nice in the morning!
I agree, we need to put some life back in this section and do some group rides.
Went riding some of the Jeremy Ranch trails. It has been a while.

I haven't been on my mtn. bike for 3 weeks now and I'm going stark, raving mad! I was going down a short section of trail and bumped something with my brand new 1x11 rear derailleur which pushed it into my rear wheel. Not only did the derailleur get absolutely destroyed but it broke every spoke on that side of the wheel! The Shimano XT 1x11 derailleur has been in such high demand that Shimano didn't have any left in stock so, I had to wait for that. Then, because my spokes are bladed and not the common variety, I had to wait for those as well. ARRGGHH! It should be done today. Fingers crossed.
I picked my bike up yesterday afternoon and headed up the canyon. It felt so good to be back on dirt! And, lots of dirt there was along with deep moon dust and more deep moon dust! Crazy dry up there.

Video from riding the Crest and Mill D trails Saturday morning. I haven't done this one in a few years. The video isn't too exciting. I was with a group of newbs. No footage of The Spine. I didn't want to show me walking 1/4 of it!
Man, I thought AF Canyon was busy on Saturday mornings. Not even close to the hordes of folks up Big Cottonwood Canyon!

So... how was it? Give us the run down...
It was fun. Definitely different on dirt. Traction was amazing on the loose uphill stuff but, even at 28 lbs, pushing so much rotating weight made the really steep, longer climbs challenging. Fully rigid was pretty jarring- even with the big volume tires. Started out at 20psi. Dropped the front to 15 which felt better. I doubt I'll ride her on dirt much from here on out but, I couldn't NOT ride it at least once before the snow flies.
Today at the World Senior Games. 1st overall and 1st in my age group racing my mountain bike. I'm officially the fastest old man you know. Hahaha

I have 90mm rims with schwalbe jumbo Jim's 4.0. I started of with 12 psi, and after 200 plus miles on it I have settled at 6.5 psi. I never thought I'd go that low but it works great. Psi is very critical on these fat tires, just a small amount makes a big difference. I LOVE it in the dirt!

Took the new Farley fatbike out for only it's second ride yesterday afternoon. I lowered the air pressure to 10 rear and 9 front. Huge difference in ride comfort. I think this afternoon I'll try dropping both by 1 psi. I have to admit, it's a hoot to ride- even on dirt! Attachment 85217
My friend just bought a 2017 YT Capra so we had to snap a pic on his first time hitting the dirt on it. His is the yellow, my 2016 YT Capra is on the right.

First time on dirt this year. Since I haven't dusted off the mountain bike yet I ended up taking the fatbike. Pedaled a few loops on the new-ish Valley Vista trails system up on the foothills above PG.
