Ya got to keep up Scott.... NASCAR stopped supporting the Confederate flag years ago. In fact NASCAR will give anyone a free American flag in exchange for a Confederate flag. You will not find NASCAR supporting the Confederate Naval Jack in any manner, either official or unofficial.
NFL, NFLPA say there's been no change to anthem policy
———-
The NFL and NFLPA released a statement Wednesday about potential policy changes related to player participation during the national anthem.
Commissioner Roger Goodell stated in a letter Tuesday that he believes every player should stand for the anthem, but both governing bodies wrote Wednesday that no amendments are to be added to the league's policy during meetings next week.
Commissioner Roger Goodell reached out to NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith today and both he and player leadership will attend the League meetings next week. There has been no change in the current policy regarding the anthem. The agenda will be a continuation of how to make progress on the important social issues that players have vocalized. Everyone who is part of our NFL community has a tremendous respect for our country, our flag, our anthem and our military, and we are coming together to deal with these issues in a civil and constructive way.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that owners would consider a rule change that would make standing during the national anthem mandatory.
In September, President Donald Trump suggested NFL owners should fire players who protested racial inequality and police brutality during the anthem at a rally in Alabama. He has since continued his offensive against the league, posting multiple rants directed at player protests.
On Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence abruptly left Sunday's game between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, alarmed by numerous players kneeling during the anthem.

This Sunday will be interesting, maybe set the tone for the rest of the year.
I'm guessing that if there are any kneelers or similar, fans will start leaving, Pence set the stage.

NFL Receives Terrible News From Fans As Anthem Protests REFUSE To Stop
It looks like the few weeks of NFL kneeling are taking a toll on ratings. In fact, the NFL ranked on the bottom of the totem poll last week—lower than all other major sports in the United States. This doesn’t bode well for the NFL in general as fans continue to be turned off by the way these players are kneeling for the National Anthem.

C'mon Rush, Trump isn't dictating them, he's practicing the same Freedom of Speech we're all using. If he were dictating, and somebody still knelt, there would be a consequence carried out by force, yes?Quote:

Limbaugh: Trump's comments on NFL 'starting to make me nervous'
... Trump should not have the power to dictate who can kneel during the anthem.
People are using their freedom of speech to say that the President cannot use his own freedom of speech.
The only ones that have the right to "dictate" the players, are the owners and coaches that are paying them to do a specific job. Trump is just echoing what the majority of the NFL fans are already saying, dictating has got nothing to do with it or we'd see some fines, arrests, or executions at this point. Criticism on social media is nowhere near governmental oppression, and if these privileged first world crybabies think it is, they could use a little education.

Looks like some #'s up, some down. MNF, SNF and the Fox afternoon game (Dallas, GB) all up, while TNF and the morning games were down from last year.
All of the #'s still crushed last nights MLB game 5 that featured the Yankees. Even the lowest time slot is still significantly higher than the highest rated college football game of the year (OSU v. Oklahoma).
None of the decreases look any worse that weeks 1 and 2 before Trump. Ratings have trended a slight decrease last year as well. I think someone earlier hit the nail on the head. CTE will kill the game if it is to be killed. I love football, and used to look forward to coaching my sons but would never let them play now. Instead I coach baseball and they ski. If you never play or are around the game when you're young, you have to be much less likely to care when you are older.
Pence and Donald once again proved they are nothing more than carnival barkers with no real interest in running a country. Much easier to fight with ESPN and NFL players than to actually do anything productive for the country. To quote our illustrious Secretary of State, "Donald is a f%$#ing moron." But like Ice points out, at least he is distracting us from everything important.
....
Yeah I keep hearing about this freedom of speech and how it's being attacked. People are telling NFL players to stop kneeling, and people are telling Trump to stop talking about it, so who's Freedom of Speech is more important?
Why do we think the mere criticism of somebody is the same as oppressing their freedom to make such stupid decisions?
When the prison sentences and government fines start, THAT is when any kind of oppression starts. Until then, it's only somebody else criticizing, with words.
It's like saying the NFL players have begun oppressing my right to stand for the anthem. We all know this isn't true, and these millionaire crybabies just need their binky so they'll shut up.
I would have to agree with you on this 'Beech.Quote:

The solution is a lot simpler than people are making it out to be.
If you don't like the players kneeling, simply don't support them by watching them or going to the games. Express the opinion of why you are doing so. It's as simple as that. It's stupid that high ranking politicians (on either side) feel the need to get involved in something trivial as football games. There are a lot more important things that they should be doing.
Simply either support the players if you agree with them and don't support them, especially financially if you don't agree with them. It's as simple as that and that alone will work everything out.
