Yes I have seen it like that as well in some years. That photo was 2007.

Correct! Steamboat Rock is the formation in the middleground. Picture taken from the top of Middle Route. The Buckskin Gulch is the canyon hidden in between.

name the spot where the photo was taken or if too hard name the peak

not a guess? it's a famous peak driven by a lot but normally you see it from the highway not the backside wilderness. the two colors of the sandstone should help narrow the location this is.

no. but correct general area, east side wilderness access south from hwy 9. but this is further west
