It's the dune at Mojave National Preserve.
David
mohave national preserve is not it.
these dunes are in a wilderness area with the word "dunes" in it. and they are south of I-40
i had seen them from the air several times when flying between 29 palms and needles. finally went out there and the dunes stretch for miles. amazing.
Algodones
afraid not scott. it is located in southern california. i am not surprised that no one has gotten this one. i had never heard of it either. i saw this huge area covered by dunes while out flying and had to look it up on the map and see how to get out to it.
another clue. _______ Dunes Wilderness lies 40 miles east of Twenty Nine Palms, between State Highway 62 and historic Route 66, in San Bernardino County GPS Coordinates: 34
Cadiz Dunes Wilderness Area

double post
Hint: It's the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, but I can't post my guess more specifically since I'm leaving town and don't have a photo to post.
how about looking into roaring spring canyon down the north kaibab?
Looks like the Grand Canyon North Rim.
right canyon, wrong rim.
Is the trail to Havasupai to your right?
nope. not the trail to havasupai.
I know where it is, but am leaving town tomorrow morning, so don't want to post a pic and will let someone else answer.
This weekend some of my Bogley friends invited me to hike a Trail to go Bass fishing down South, but I'm actually heading to the San Juan Mountains instead. Should be a good weekend. You guys have a good weekend too.
:roflol::roflol:

Anyway, I post enough photos so someone else can go.

EDIT: I should mention that this photo was taken in 2005, pretty sure nothing has changed over the years though.

Rd. from Big Water to Wahweap Creek (Hoodoos)?
Awesome! @zzyzx you know your stuff! Correct, the road goes up Wahweap and on to Nipple Spring and beyond. For what was in the picture, I was looking more for the ponds at middle right, but I didn't word it very well, so close enough. I'm not positive what they are used for now, but those ponds (or some very similar) were used as a fish hatchery years ago and I spent many a hot summer evening as a kid cooling off in them.
Thx Dave, and for background info too.
This area and vicinity is great.
Name the TH.

I would guess Fish and Owl Creek TH, but seriously, it's hard to identify anything like that taken at night. A day pic would be much better.
Sorry no, it isn't Fish and Owl Creek TH. This is very nice area - I should hiking there in the next future. Thx for the hint.:2thumbs:
You are right, Scott. A day pic would be much better. But I don't have one.
Maybe a clue.
Have a look to the trail register. Mostly hikers were parking there. Some went back and out, other ones starts at a TH, further north. A shuttle would be helpfull - if you have one.
