I agree. But it's down in the Yellowcat area.

Correct @Old Jeeper
Adjacent to the "tractor tire" junction.
Just down the road from this is some awesome petrified wood. Some of it has eroded away from the cliff wall and is left exposed the way it was left eons ago. Some even protruding out of the cliff wall a few feet. Really cool.
OK Jeeper, your turn.
Thanks. I'll have to look for the wood next time I'm down there.

What, no model rocket fans on here?
is it the latest launch to the international smurf station from the bonneville salt flats?
Nailed it. Annual Hellfire rocket launch on the salt flats put on by the Utah Rocket Club. Starting August 2nd this year. http://www.uroc.org/
Your turn.
and here i was just trying to be funny. that was a pure wild ass guess.
ok where is this.

and i can't believe i actually made it all the way out there towing that trailer. good thing it was in the dark or i probably would have turned around way sooner.
Might need a clue or two, but I'm going to guess somewhere near Moab. :ne_nau:
Somewhere down burr trail near wolverine?
matt is very close. has to go a bit farther though.
I need to get back there and do some hiking, end of the line down Moody Canyon Rd, a trail head for Middle Moody as I recall.
thats it. the end of the road at middle moody. you are next.

A hard one perhaps unless you have stopped by.
This location is marked on the map as "___ _______"
I'm guessing that it's down by Monticello.
Cowboy Camp ?
It is down in that general area @ Sandstone Addiction
The hay shed in the photo is the original one, un-restored, this was (and still is) a bit more than a cowboy camp.

Any idea where this is? I saw it online and figured somebody on Bogley surely knows.
It seems to be below Gunlock Reservoir (West of St George) in Winter or Spring when the dam is overflooded and that creates some nice falls.
Philippe
ah, @snatch, missed the rules of the game? gotta make a correct guess at the previous photo to take a turn. :roflol: but no, i do not know where that is.
I agree with Phillip Gunlock overflow. Sadly didn't do it this year.

So, getting back to figuring where this one is...you've said that it's in the general vicinity of Monticello and it's more than a cowboy camp.
@xjblue , looks like we need some more clues to keep this moving.
First clue: (I'll post a second soon if this doesn't get it going again)
When we stopped there some folks, a friendly couple who live there in a small house through the summer and ranch the place with a son, showed us the fixed up old bunk house next to their place and pointed out what direction the old ranch house used to stand. Remains of a chimney are all that apparently remain according to the man. The Hay shed was pretty much unchanged. They rattled off famous outlaws including Posey and the Wild Bunch who used the place. They encouraged us to enjoy the view to the south toward Monument Valley out from the bunkhouse porch.
You might pass a view like this on your way to or from there.

I thought of the Scorup Cabin, but I thought it was surrounded by pine trees, so I don't think that's right. The last photo looks like Dark Canyon though.
UN-Educated guessing: to enjoy the view south, toward MV I was thinking it would be somewhere on Cedar Mesa (I'm not familiar with this area at all)??? But with the pine tree in upper left I would have to say more up around the Cottonwood Wash area west of Blanding???
Narrowing it down.
Scott P has proper ID on the clue, think higher elevation than Cottonwood - you could get there from Cottonwood...
Is it the Ute Cabin? If so, it looks different than it used to.
Nope, If the Ute Cabin on the map by the Kigalia ranger station? doubt you can see Monument Valley from there given the trees, the Bears Ears, etc, but you are still heading in the right direction, getting warm.
Is it The Hideout?
@Scott P Yes that's it!
base of washerwoman?
No; quite a ways from Washerwoman. Also taken high above the desert floor rather than at the base.
abajo's in the background? south sixshooter?
Yes, that's it.
Death Valley?
@Felicia you are in the right state. but it's not death valley. look further south.
That's Glamis.
