Hey, I didnt even think about the Island
I am going to ride friday afternoon, if you want to go, let me know we can work out where to hook up...
i will go road biking if the weather permits and try to find out if it is rideable at all, my guess is that it is just a mud hole out there? ANy ideas on conditions?
Maintenance has been neglected for a couple of years so today the old girl got some new stuff:2thumbs:
Code 5 brake set front and back to replace the mismatched stuff that didn't work most of last year.
New shift cables
New middle chain ring that was missing teeth.
New bottom bracket replacing the creaky one.
New front hub bearings and lubed rear hub bearings.
New seatpost clamp to replace the one I broke two years ago
cleaned lubed headset
Rebuilt front fork again
Trued rims, unbelievable they held up as loose as they were
New ODI grips
New WTB Speed V saddle
etc...
:cool2:
Nice choice of parts Keith. You are going to love the code 5 brakes. I have recently done the same with my bike, but it is still in the shop going on 3 weeks now because of the rear hub assembly.
:2thumbs: Nice Kieth!
Shawn(sp?), We'll talk when your "wait on the bike shop" equals my all time records of 5 weeks for a Saint front brake lever and 4 weeks for a rear hub replacement, I will not divulge the name of the shop (because I am a gentleman), but I can assure you that I will not be going by 8th and Washington in O-town with my bikes anytime soon...
Here is mine. My new white Specialized 29er hardrock. Beginner level but hey WTH. Now it has a few new scratches on it.
So far since getting it on the 17th of January, I've ridden it to work about 3 times a week (about 18 times total=144miles). Our typical route involves about 4 miles each way and about 1.5 miles each way is on a mtn bike trail that runs along the bottom of the wash. Nice. The rest is on paved trail. We all have to start somewhere. Having fun with it.

:2thumbs: very very nice!
Yep, gotta start somewhere. Getting out is the most important part. Nice looking bike! I like white too. :ride:
Don't feel bad.. my bike isn't even cool enough to be on this thread.. but it does the job :)
 I may have a hairline crack in my Easton Monkeylite bars (dammit). I just ordered a RaceFace Atlas DH bar - in anodized red. Can you say blingblingbling? :cool2:---should be here tomorrow.
"Wow Honey, someday I would like to replace that old GT Richochet. I just don't think we should spend the money right now. Besides, this is your day to buy a nice bike." She looks at me and says, "Quit wasting my time with your crap and buy one.". I plan on staying married to her a long, long time!! Or at least until i get another upgrade!
wow, what a sweet collection of bikes.
my faithful companion is a canyon nerve es5, the picture is taken in the austrian alps.
:2thumbs:
Just bought a well taken care of used Gary Fisher Paragon 29er hardtail race rocket. Pics to follow as soon as the crummy weather permits the next ride. ARGGHHHH!
Pics from Saturday. I rode from home up the Alpine Loop Road to the gate at Pine Hollow. I normally don't ride with the seat bag or tail light unless I'm strictly on the road. First upgrade will be a pair of Stan's ZTR wheels.
Haven't decided yet. I may keep them around with slicks mounted on them for Spring road riding.
BTW, I met Ranger Keri Taylor (? spelling) last Thursday at our USFS RAC meeting. Sounds like she wants to get a local citizens committee going like we have with the Pleasant Grove Ranger District. She said she has spoken with Cheryl, our local Ranger. Hope it works out up there.
I like the red salsa accessories. I have the same set up on another bike.

Awe yes I can see now. You got the Focus! Nice choice. :2thumbs:
a sweet ride indeed!:hail2thechief:
Does this mean you'll be changing your name, RedSpecialized?
How do you like the Fat Albert's? Pricey tire but am looking at trying a Schwalbe. Just got took off my Mtn. King on the rear. Didn't care for it.
Is that yer scooter? :haha:
Yeah, I still have the red Spcialized for down hill riding, but I guess i really didn't think my name through all that well..... :crazycobasa: I guess I could change the name to "brownfocus" or "BROWNprojectman"....:ne_nau:
As for the Tire's, I really like the Fat Albert's. who couldn't love a time with a name like that. I don't have a ton of riding on the yet but they seem to stick well and roll pretty good. I have heard they are a pricey tire but they came with the bike. I'm sure there are other tires out there less expensive and probably just as good, but I'm not sure. I haven't purchased tires in about 2 yrs. and that was for my DH ride so they were thick wall Kenda's. Now that i think about it I Don't think I have ever purchased a lighter weight tire.
Still lovin' it...
