i'm in forthe group camp. :2thumbs:
That is so awesome Denaliguide!! It'll be great to finally meet ya. :2thumbs: Just got word and Matty is in as well. He even has gear to loan out if we want to go do some canyons. Speaking of.......anyone have any suggestions of canyons to do? I'll bring my stuff but I'm obviously a noob and not comfortable leading anyone down anything. :lol8:
If I can not have a camp fire to roast my marshmellows over and be mesmerized by the flames I don't want to camp there. :lol8: I would much rather camp 20 miles out of town in the middle of no where.
Alison I hope Goldbar has places open.
I can bring a shade canopy.
If needs be I can leave Ogden Wed. night to save campgrounds. I am already planning on leaving early Thursday morning.
Chere- It shows on the calendar that Goldbar is available. Now I just need to call first thing AM and nab it since the office was closed today. :2thumbs: And we can have fires there And it's only 10 miles from town And it's a good spot. HEHE!! :2thumbs:
Cool! Hope you can make it - looking forward to meeting you!Quote:

Exciting! I'm bringing my gear for sure. WOOHOO!! Ok now I'm feeling selfish and don't know if I'm bringing the family or maybe I'll bring just my oldest son. I think I want a whole weekend of mommy time. Tell me this is ok you guys? HAHA!! :lol8: (Which canyons would you like to do Kevin?)
No bring your kid... I will babysit. I will go crazy if there are not other kids there... I can't get out of bringing mine (I don't want to actually). It will give them someone to play with. You can still have mommy time and go play in the canyons with Kev. I have one time experience on a boulder long time ago so really don't care if I miss out on canyoneering... do it some other time when I don't have kids to keep track of.
I was thinking about just bringing my oldest b/c I'd like him to do an easy canyon with me. My 5 year old is a HUGE handful...... :lol8: We'll see. We'll see. This could be some good mom-oldest son time if I just bring Ben. :2thumbs:
Called both phone numbers this morning, both go to recording.......says they open at 7:45 am. Well it's 7:50!!!! HAHA!! Off to the gym right now and I will be calling both from the car. Will post as soon as I get a confirmation. :2thumbs:
I'm hoping to show up for a day. I'll let you guys know soon.
Yeah I wouldnt mind coming down for a day also, and hit the mtn bike ride. Beech maybe we will have to carpool if you are going solo.Quote:

HEHE!!! I do have to get a headcount by April 15th to make the final payment. It's 2.50 pp, per night. So $5 pp for the weekend made payable to me when we get there. I'll continue to look to see if anything better pops up but I have a feeling this is going to be it. :2thumbs:
Consider me in at least until the site hits the minimum 15 people.
I won't have any kids taggin along and will keep ya posted if any other friends decide to join me there in the Land of Slickrock.
This still sounds good to me! We can figure out the shade problem and I'm sure if memory serves there are lots of trees in the camp area...maybe not directly in the group site but I think youre not gonna find another group site Alison.Quote:

I'll be in the crowd. :five:
so is there an updated agenda on the Mtn Bike ride, hike etc?Quote:

I can't wait. I don't think Spring is going to make it to the Cache Valley until June.
Yeah, I figure we'll get an agenda going before too long. :popcorn:Quote:

what did I miss??? ..oh yeah...SlickRock
Damn. Just realized that this is the weekend I"ll be in Connecticut. Damn. I REALLY wanted to come down with the group. Poo.
Sorry we won't have you there!!! Bum deal. :( We'll miss ya. Next time!! :mrgreen:Quote:

Alison and I have talked about it and neither one of us want to become the camp cook but we are willing to bring whatever cooking stuff it takes IF thats the route we want to take...and I'm sure there are those of us who would fill in/pitch in cooking. MY thoughts are: maybe one group breakfast one day...a dinner or two & see how the cards fall after that. I like eating in town from time to time. I also like to make a picnic lunch and take it wherever we are & eat sandwiches or something easy....breakfast or lunch. Sometimes I just like to head to Moab Diner... :haha:
A dutch oven (cherry or peach) cobbler with vanilla ice cream would be good and rather easy. :ne_nau: :popcorn:Quote:

Matty, you have GOT to have some killer experience when it comes to camp cooking :2thumbs: any scouter worth his salt does  We're gonna need a few ideas kicked around for a main course for probably one group dinner one night, at least thats what we're thinking about. Acca and I have several...ok...many ovens as I'm sure you do too. We will need one or two coleman stoves if some one wants to do a breakfast....heat up some water for coffee...cocoa...late night evenings are nice for a hot something or other. Personally, I'll probably eat light for most breakfasts. I'm planning on getting fruit & veggies at the City Market there, maybe some sausage & eggs, milk, juice, bread - basics. I figure lunches though will hardly be cooked at all. All the food I bring to camp will be open for anyone to eat. We need to have goodies & such  We need water jugs. Never can have too much water, but I was planning on getting some cases of bottled water too.Quote:

If someone will bring a griddle I will make beercakes for breakfast.
a BIG griddle you know one I can cook more then two pancakes at a time on.
Sorry to hear you can't make it, tree!
Food: I've never really camped with groups before. Interested in seeing the dynamic.
When car camping, I usually bring along pasta or rice dishes, salad in the cooler, cans of tuna, buns, etc. I'll be buying supplies and water in town. I'll have my backpacking stove... :haha: Out and about during the day, I usually make a sandwich or two, and eat lots of trail mix type things.
Being a veggie boy (apart from fish) I'm probably not the best for joining into big group meals...
Dessert, though - I'm in!
Oh DAMN girl! I forgot about the pancakes! those were delicious... I have a big griddle I will bring :nod:Quote:

Also I think we should maybe designate a night, like Saturday night to do a group thing? I'm a fan of eating light and keeping it simple b/c I don't want to mess with the clean up, etc....so I will fly solo on the rest of the meals. I'd rather get out there and play. But for a group dinner, I can make up some K-bobs. Marinated Beef/chicken and veggies? And some Veggie Kbobs for those veggie folks. I can also like to make up a light pasta salad with veggies, jack cheese and a light dressing. That would keep really well for a day or so on ice until cooking time and it's easy. I will also bring my little baby Weber to grill up the goodness.
Kev- obviously are going to be living out of your car for a week, so don't sweat it. Just join in and we'll take care of the rest. I'll marinate some veggies for ya. :2thumbs:
I am planning on driving my Work truck down so I will have plenty of room for camp gear. I have the coolers, water jugs, Stoves, utensil and dutch ovens. I agree with everything you said so just plan the meals and I'll supply the gear.
I think a saturday night group dinner is a great idea. I like the idea of maybe making several different dishes that all can share...some variety! And of course...desserts! I'm gettin excited just thinking about it! :2thumbs:
Dessert...............yummy. I think Sat night, group dinner night sounds great as well. :2thumbs:
I already bought ingredients for a dish I want to do for the Bogely Pot-Luck Saturday night. I am going to try it out tomorrow and see how it goes. If I have to I will try the recipe a couple of times make sure I have it down pat! NOPE I will not give a hint.. but it is YUMMMM delicious. Sorry Cirrus not vegitarian. However I did grill some outstanding yellow squash and zucchini tonight. So I am looking for a good vegitarian treat also! That one is harder for me. I am not much of a vegetable person.
I have been thinking about this one as well. Tyler was a awesome dutch oven cook. He use to make a peach cobler that was simply divine and he put Mountain Dew in it!Quote:

Ahhh....us dutch oven cooks will instruct you in the ways of the Force. :vader: I will be bringing two of my 10 ovens...Matty will as well....Acca might also.Quote:
