I don't think it's strange unless you actually miss the killing/destruction part. Surely you don't miss that part of being over there? The death & destruction, hopelessness and fear wrought by war? :ne_nau:
It seems to me that in a situation such as war, natural disaster, or any other extremely traumatic experience, that all the walls between people come down. And I would guess that what you're missing the most is that level of connection you experienced with others during that time. The "Band of Brothers" that Mooseman mentions?
