Pretty much a broad cross-section of people interested.....
A high percentage of US military personal have expressed interest for some reason.
I liked the addition of the Blue Pool. What attraction is the slog up to most canyons? They had to catch the attention of the general population at the start so they would get to the good part. The pool looked mystical and inviting. The initial drop into showed a bit of his love of adventure. Christian, you probably would have loved it if those girls were lying on the side of the pool naked, basking in that blue light. :lol8: Even with the pool and academy award nominations some think it was just so... so.
It amazes me how many people come so far to see the Wave after it was shown in a movie. There has to be something just as good or far better in their countries but for some reason, that little spot shown in a movie is special to them and they have to come and see it.

ereally nice post.. :)
I have added directions to the Blue Pool to my Bluejohn map.
"The Blue Pool is 160 miles NNW in Heber City - a long walk."
And of course, now I realize, it is actually in Midway, right?

T
Yeah that pool is in Midway, a long, long ways from the real canyon. no such thing in Blue John for those of you who watched the flick.
Just think we had 200 people 75 feet above and just yards from where Aron got stuck and we had a full course meal catering tent, craft service snacks on location and supplies heli'd in every hour or two, not to mention a paramedic tent. That is a world of difference from when he was there stuck alone. I guarantee our 5 days there were just a tad more comfortable than his

 He was actually a pretty nice guy while i put giant ants on him so in his defense there were safety nazis there from some offical whatever keeping people pretty locked down as to what film crew and actors could/couldn't do...I chatted one dude up as he grilled me on helmet and harness use and I said, "Hey man how long you been climbing?" his response took me aback a little, "I haven't, I am just making sure everyone is safe for the production company." Huh. guess his position of authority trumps my 19 years climbing experience on my own personal safety:angryfire:
Hey, pretty neat. Thanks for sharing!
I've been putting it off on purpose. I read the book (well, most of it) and I've met Aron a couple times (once out in the Swell ran across him at the Quandary trail head) and I'd heard about the blue pool and after hearing Aron tell the story I just wasn't interested in the Hollywood version. I gave in an watched it tonight and damn, I really liked it. Makes me want to find that pool... :haha:
Read the book, enjoyed the movie.
Some may have already seen this, posted at trail heads in the area:
