Interesting thought, but I doubt it's true. Perhaps this was true years ago, when balds were nearly extinct, but nowadays, balds are flourishing all over the continent. There are something like 40,000 in just Alaska. Easily over 100,000 birds on the entire continent. There are maybe 1,000 eagles at Farmington Bay and it's environs at it's peak. This year, the most I counted was just upward of 100. Granted, there are a lot more that aren't visible, but not that many.

"Delurk"...There are some excellent photos here, I really enjoyed the post. I recently moved from Salt Lake so I don't have any photos of Farmington Bay this year. But here is one that I like from a few years back.

Looking at these posts has made me sick to my stomach (and I'm afraid I have to single out Carpey). I was only able to make it out twice, the first time was just before the eagles arrived, and the second time there were about 15, but they were too far out on the ice. You guys have some uber-amazing pics, and it makes me jealous :frustrated: :hail2thechief: :hail2thechief: .
