There are people out there that believe in ghosts. I don't...because I've never seen one. Show me a ghost and you'll make a believer out of me. Same thing with the tooth fairy...I knew damn well it was my mother who was going to put a dollar under my pillow. Same thing with Santa Claus...never bought into that, either. I understood the notion of it, I understood it's meaning...but the "supernatural" part of it...the "you gotta believe, you gotta have faith" thing just didn't click. Gotta see it to believe it...lots of talk, not a lot of walk. Quite frankly, whenever I hear of kids crying or otherwise traumatized by learning the "truth"...I see it as a form of child abuse. Better to clue them in right off the bat than fill their heads with that nonsense...just setting them up. The hammer has to come down eventually.
So in my opinion, it boils down to those that face reality as it is and those that swim around in the fantasy world way too much. Take the space program for example....all those guys involved with making that happen...you couldn't bullshit ANY of them. And you want to know what every single one of them had in common? The ability to think two steps ahead...I would imagine that was the most important criteria when they were selected. One guy lacking in that ability could puke on the whole thing.
Unfortunately...our government(s) are packed with people that can't separate emotion from the blunt face of reality...mixed in with that are those that use it as a weapon and a few that can clearly see it all and just shake their heads. Their outnumbered...always have been and always will be. It's called a cluster*ck. And we're forced to bend to their will for one reason and one reason only...they can lock us up and take away everything we have. That's what mystifies me most about these people that side with the dysfunctional circus and back their "leaders" with their "benevolent wisdom"...just like Santa and the tooth fairy...they just don't want to face the reality of it. Swimming in the fantasy.
