Sounds like they tried to peacefully roast him like a marshmallow.
And who doesn't like a nice, peaceful campfire?
Wonder if he called the police:ne_nau:
Rioters Loot Stores, Set Fires at Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s Condo
Rioters marched on the home of Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler overnight Monday into Tuesday, looting nearby stores and setting furniture on fire in the street. At one point, they reportedly set fires inside the condominium building itself.

Like I've said...these people attack statues because they can't defend themselves. They riot downtown because there's plenty of places to run and hide. They thrive on weakness. They're bullies, when it comes down to it. Stand up to them and they scatter.
It's not the conservatives that they're after...it's the liberals and progressives that let them roam freely that they'll attack. They'd slit the throats of the very politicians that covet their votes. Most of them are just out of control punks, but he smart ones know that if they can replace the Dem politicians, then they'd have some real power. They can write legislation.
After Trump gets reelected, I think we're going to see an epic power struggle/civil war in the Democrat Party...although it's likely that the Democrat power broker oligarchs will buy them off...they've been raking in tens of millions and it doesn't look like they're spending much of it. They're going to need that money to grease some palms.
Never, NEVER make friends with an angry mob. I wonder if Mayor Wheeler is looking back fondly at his participation in the riots back in June? Are the very people he rubbed shoulders with back then the same hooligans that are now trying to burn his condo to the ground?
Hey Portland -- had enough yet?
This no longer has anything to do with BLM or Trump. This is an angry Marxist junior-militia that you are enabling. Wake up.
Allegory_of_the_cave
I took a lightweight Philosophy class at a community college back in the mid 80s and I remember the teacher using this as an analogy for entire populations going along with dictators in third world countries.
Rock has floated the idea that perhaps the mayor of Portland will "wake up" now that he's being attacked...but I don't think so. That dude is deep in the cave. Same thing with these progressive pundits...they're perfectly happy to deny reality because they create their own and truly believe it.
I believe this is also called "delusion".
Wheeler's got a problem: Continue staring at that cave wall in front of him and risk losing his career, status in the community, and possibly his life, or walk out of the cave and save himself.
But I think you're right -- he's so invested in saving face that he'd rather sacrifice his career than renege and admit he was wrong. It's OK -- his saving grace will be that it's all Trump's fault. Blame it on Trump as opposed to making any effort at all to improve -- even for the sake of his constituency. It's Page 1 of the Democrat playbook -- blame someone else -- and it's going to get them 4 more years of Trump.
I believe that this allegory should be required reading and discussion for every high school kid. Maybe spend a two weeks or so on this concept. Teaching kids how to think, reason, be tolerant of arguments and figure out how to formulate opinions. This would also take some extraordinary teachers to be able to teach this, too. This is one of the things I still remember from my philosophy days at BYU. The only problem with the allegory is that when taught, everyone thinks they are the enlightened ones and they quit thinking again. Very few people are willing to intellectually open their minds and consider all sides of an argument. And in today's world, where many receive all the truth they ever need in 140 characters or less, it will be even more difficult to drag people out of the cave and really enlighten them. It is a painful process that takes more effort than most people are willing to make.
Yeah...birds of a feather flock together.
Another angle on this is "take the money and run"...he'll serve out his term and ride off into the sunset with his pension and benefits package. If he's going to take any of it personally that his comrades have a target on his back, then at least he can console himself with that.
They leave a terrible mess and have absolutely no concern...they actually hit the mini lottery.
Indeed...their behavior seems to go even beyond irrational. I think what we're seeing is seriously heavy and deep psychological stuff...they were broadsided in Nov. of '16 and haven't recovered...instead it's been a delusional nosedive. Like those liberal girls that write SLUT in black marker on their bellies although they're "protesting" sexual harassment?
I'm truly an open minded guy (at least I think I am) and I tell them "OK, persuade me"...but they fail miserably over and over again. Wishful thinking, dreams and fantasy are fun, but you've got to have a line that separates them from reality. You can cross that line and enjoy these things where it's possible, but blending them with reality as a matter of course is ignorant, childish and foolish at the same time.
The "blend world" is mostly what I hear progressives advocating for and they lack limiting principals...Unicorns farting rainbows is actually an excellent analogy.
Here's where they house the paid protestors, professionals that are shipped to different places like Kenosha and other hot spots.
These riots are not spontaneous. They are planned, paid for, organized.

^^^George Soros pays for a lot of the unrest and riots on the far left. I've never figured out why the Feds don't go after him.
