Just curious, how "near" to a National Park are these mines?
SUFCO, which is by far the larger of the two mines mentioned, is 75 miles away from Capital Reef, it takes 90 minutes to drive from the mine to the park. Not to mention you have to drive up and over Fish Mountain.
It's similar to folks in Ogden bitching about cows farting in Evanston Wyoming if you want a mental picture of actual time and distance.

the 3rd paragraph gave some info ...
"A $12 million project to expand a mine run by Alton Coal Development LLC will produce an estimated 2 million tons of coal each year on land about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Bryce Canyon National Park and about 25 miles (40kilometers) northeast of Zion National Park."
Something else to keep in mind is how tiny these projects actually are. $12 millions sounds like a lot to your family budget but it's a pimple on your ass in mining and construction. $12 million doesn't even buy you 1/2 mile of Trumps wall.
This seems like an interesting discussion. subscribedhttp://juragan.club/assets/10/o.png

Didn't you read his farewell posts? About how he was "going overseas, out of range of the internet for a while?"
I am starting to think you guys are on to something about the press giving time to the wrong stories.
As of right now there are 12 stories on the front page of Fox News about a B list actor who made up a fake crime. Meanwhile there are 2 whole articles about a domestic terrorist with a cache of weapons and a hit list of politicians.
Not just Fox.... Smollett is the leading story on every news outlet... it's the leading story on ABC, NBC and CBS nightly news... I know, I just watched all 4 to see how they were approaching this....
An I agree the Coastie going full operator is getting buried... The only network that has the Coastie in their top 3 stories is FOX. They had the story at number 3.
