Last of the Great Unknown - Trailer

Hi folks, first post on Bogley (but I'll admit to lurking here in this fine community on occasion). :mrgreen: It doesn't appear that I can post links on the site right now, but I thought I would still make people aware of the news since Dan is out playing in the outdoors somewhere. If you're a member of the Canyons Yahoo Group you'll find the links there. I'll be happy to post them here when I can, or someone else can help me out by posting them.

We've had a lot of questions about where people can watch the film. Up until now you had to travel to one of the film festivals to view it. Outside Magazine will air the full film for free on the internet this Thursday night (July 26) between 6-9pm MST. It's in full HD with an original score so watch it on the big screen with quality sound if you can. It will not be archived or available for viewing outside of the three hour window.

Incidentally, the film has been getting high marks including one of the ten best documentaries at Telluride Mountain Film (by Outside). It was selected to travel to 130 cities around the World on the Mountain Film World tour. It's really quite remarkable on the big screen with incredible HD cinematography and Dolby 5.1 surround sound. The film is being considered for many other festivals in the Fall including Banff. Stay tuned for more big screen dates. I'm also told that more local
Arizona festivals (Flagstaff, Prescott, Sedona) are considering it too. Finally, the film will air at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake Sat Aug 4 between 4

Ice, thanks for the assist! Slot, the guy who wrote that Backpacker article (John Harlin) is World class climber and mountaineer. He had never been in a slot before joining us in Grand Canyon. That trip lured him away from the dark side :nod:. John was so excited about canyons after the GC trip that he helped produce Dan's film. Someone told me that the Backpacker article was available online now for free. If I can find it, and earn my wings here with a few most posts, I'll see if I can put up for the those people that don't subscribe.

Nice! It doesn't seem to take much to get most folks hooked on canyoneering. I just got two of my buddies hooked last week despite the fact that they hate dirty water and they're scared of heights. :haha:

There is a documentary film festival in St. George called DOCUTAH. Have you considered having it play here September's 5-9 of this year?

mtthwlw, thanks for the info! The sponsors hired a company to promote the film and enter it into the festivals. I sent them a note and they replied back that they will see if the St. George festival has an interest. It sure seems like a good fit to me. :nod:

I don't think it will create a big rush. These canyons are difficult and require a huge commitment in time, energy, skill and effort.
