(I apologize for the quality of the photo, but it contains the essentials.)

nice photo.
Thanks oldno7 for working with my photo...my machine that had Photoshop acquired a virus--had to get rid of the computer (it was old) and I never was in possession of the Photshop discs to put on my new machine...
Anyways, it should be noted that in the first photo, that is WATER just above the center and a bit to the right of the photo.
The second photo below is taken after swinging the camera a bit to the right, and the same body of water now appears to the left of center.

head of navajo canyon, twilight valley?
The previous two photos are looking down mostly onto Park Service Lands...
Turning around, one has the view shown below, with an extremely well-known landmark dominating the view:

i have no idea...but just to get this thread moving again, somewhere along the San Rafael River?
near hidden splendor?
holy smokes ... you guys have been playing this for 35 pages!!! :eek2: i had no idea.
that would be the mouth of dark canyon. by the way, what year is that photo taken in, denali?
stefan, welcome to the game. it is the mouth of dark canyon. it was april 2001. hard to believe it was 10 years ago. how time flies. we went up river from here to bowdie canyon. its a lousy scan from before i went digital.
ooo, sounds like a neat trip! yes time does fly and seems to get quicker each year.
hmm ... i don't have a lot of digital photos and even fewer good ones for this game ... i am vacillating between one a little obscure but with an obvious feature ... and another one that's more well-known ... hmm ... i guess i'll go with the more well-known.
i guess i'm looking for the approximate location where the photo was taken
overlooking escalante near neon choprock bench?
Dirty Devil River, Robber's Roost
Is it the Dirty Devil from one of the high points along the north edge of Hell Hole Swale?
between buck and pasture looking across at the lower sand slide.
ooo ... getting warmer
Looking NNE from above Angel Cove
I don't think it's a named arch...either one of them, if that is one left-of-center, too.
Name of the trail will do.
Looks a little like Cohab Canyon in Capitol Reef.
Lost Spring Canyon?
Is it in ANP?

We have a winner!
My son and I did the whole 9 mile loop hike one week ago today, that cold, windy day. Awesome hike, highly recommended. We didn't enter the slot because we weren't prepared for the significant amount of water in it. I had only driven through Cap Reef on Hwy 24 in the past, and failed to appreciate its qualities. Will definitely be going back there.
Where is this ?
