When this whole thing started, Utah County tried ordering a mask mandate and the Governor threatened to sue them over it. I'm sure the same could be done here, but it won't. It's pretty amazing. People wonder why so many folks got all upset about their "freedumbs" being taken away. This is why. Once they get a taste of it, they won't let go.
What's next? Even after Covid isn't an issue, are they going to mandate masks and temp checks during the usual flu season? Where does it stop in this "new normal" (I hate that phrase with a burning passion).
If I remember correctly, back in the spring, the state legislature made it a law that no lower jurisdiction (county, city) could mandate masks without express written permission from the governor. Each of these county mandates (SL, Grand, Cache), I believe, have gone through that process and received his signature on those mandates. But, like Ice said, he's a lame duck at this point, so he has no political power or backlash to worry about.
You are correct. I couldn't remember all of the details, but I remembered there was a bit of a problem in Utah county early on with regards to this. My comments regarding the relinquishing of authority stands though. They won't easily let that go, if they ever do.
The sheep will spend its entire life fearing the wolf, only to be eaten by the Shepard.
If all you’re doing to protect yourself and others from contamination is wearing a mask, you need to get with the program. People who care and are smart are bubbling it up.

I just looked this up...IT'S FOR REAL!
My God...some of these people are governing their citizens because of their issues...you ever met a true "germaphobe"...I have. I've worked for them.
You know one thing they all have in common? Paper towels...lots and lots of paper towels...they use them to wipe down everything all the time. It's a form of OCD...I've worked for at least a couple dozen people that were/are inflicted with it. Obsessive wiping.
Looks like the people of Maine have one of these for their governor. I don't like other people's spit either, but this is just off the hook. It's not like they're blowing candles off your food.
Yeah...let's elect Biden...we'll all have to spend the next 6 months or more with these stupid things around our necks, huh? He declared tonight that he's going to vanquish the virus "once and for all"...why would you not expect something like this to be on the menu? WTF?

You don’t say. So, when being around someone infected for extended periods of time, it doesn’t matter whether all parties are wearing masks or not, transmission still occurs. How could that be? :ne_nau:
