I've never seen so many unusually high steps as here. This one 15 or 16 inches.
Dozens and dozens. These aren't misbuilt or sinking steps. They were built purposely this way.

As an engineer the only thing I can tell you is that doesn't meet US building code. If you sold that house it would never pass inspection.

Some dog comes flying' outta that house he's gonna get your ass before you can scramble up a tree. Maybe that's what it is?...a death chute. Keeps ya in a straight line in case they want to give you a shotgun blast, too.
Today had my second encounter with a death dog being held back by a collar and owner's hand. And second time they were supportive.
Whew.
But one of these days there'll be an unfortunate loss of grip. And I'll have been on private property. With plausible deniability from the Dem owner.
I do carry. But the reality of drawing and taking down a dog 0.5 secs from leap to throat is small.
