Gobblers Knob via Butler Fork/Mill A

Hiked with my wife to Gobblers Knob from Butler Fork in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The trail has a lot of variety and was steeper than I remember. I'd say the trail goes like this: steep (next to stream), steep (woods), moderate (to meadow), flat (meadow), moderate (to ridge), steep (after ridge), steep (to peak). It packs a ton of variety and has places to camp if you wanted to backpack (meadow). Definitely great views from the peak as well. We saw 4 people and a dog towards the peak but they came in through Mill Creek. Saw 6 adults and 4 kids towards the bottom on the descent.

8 Miles, 3000 feet elevation gain (Summitpost shows 3600)

We've done it from Alexander's Basin in Mill Creek which is also an awesome approach. I like Mill A from BCC though. Pretty empty most of the time.

IO hiked both earlier this year and completely agree on the steepness of the trail. The steepness for the first mile or two always surprises me even though I've hiked it several times. Great hike though.
