Yes sure but to reduce weight you need to do enough jogging and don't look for shorter runs and do more and have good time duration of your jogging and do it for an hour and take intervals after 5 minutes if you are a new one.

I'm just starting to get back in to jogging "I know great time of year -_-" there is about 7inches of snow out here now... However when I jog I usually keep a good 9 minute pace, easier to run distance and just enough to get the ticker going at a good rate!
