Adams Canyon, Layton UT
Well I finally took the family up Adams Canyon in Layton.
My 4 year old boy did good, but he was pretty tired on the way down. We took plenty of breaks too.
I was surprised at the amount of semi-scrambling required, it was a little tricky from time to time as I was carrying my daughter on my back.
The trailhead was PACKED as you can see in the first photo, but the trail traffic wasn't too bad. We were on the trail for about 3.5 hours.
I'm assuming it was about 2 miles up. Here's a whacked out GPS trail up the canyon, looks like the signal got lost a few times...

Your kid looks just like me when i was 4, but i grew up dyed my hair, and found the wonders of flattening irons.

How about them switchbacks!!! I'm glad the photo images of the terrain have been updated, you can actually see the waterfall.

The switchbacks weren't too bad, it was just all the sand. Man that trail is traveled a ton. Horse traffic too. I was wondering how high those horses go, or if maybe they take the Bonneville Shoreline fork.
-
Thanks for the post. This hike has been on my list for several years but somehow I never seem to do it, Maybe this fall!

Yeah, those switchbacks can be brutal. I hiked it in the heat of the day = mistake. :angryfire:

I just went up there too. Great little hike with the payoff being better than expected.
I took a few pics.
