My wife and I retired 21 months ago after working in Summit County, Colorado for the last twenty years. We now travel fulltime in a 40' motorhome. Since retirement, we have been from Fairbanks, Alaska and Dawson City, Yukon (farthest points north) all the way down to Mustang Island, Texas (farthest point south). We have spent a lot of time in Arizona and Southern California. We have been on the Oregon coast twice and spent time in the state of Washington. We like rock art, ruins, hiking, kayaking, photography and birding. We love southern Utah and will begin a months stay on Cedar Mesa and around the Paria River area in a few days. We love hearing about the experiences of other people so, if anyone has any suggestions on what to do and see, please let us know. I am excited about using this forum.

Pretty new to SLC and getting really amped on all the offerings for outdoor stuff. Im from WA originally and am liking the transition to the drier side of life. Im an avid backcountry skier and spent the winter touring the Wasatch. Just finished up a technical canyoneering class and am hoping to find some folks to do some canyons with. Looking forward to getting out!

Tanya and folks on the Zion Hiking Yahoo Group pointed me this way. I've gotten lots of good hiking information here before, but am just now joining in hopes to add some info as well.

I'm making my second solo trip to Utah and Arizona next week and will be visiting Parunuweap (southern rim and Barracks - three days), Coyote Buttes North (maybe), Buckskin Gulch, Wahweap Hoodoos, a few areas in East Zion, Hidden Canyon, Emerald Pools, The Narrows (bottom-up), Taylor Creek/Kolub Arch, Valley of Fire (NV). Got the GoPro ready and a new compact digital camera ready to go.

I hope to have some trip reports and hiking beta if I find areas worthwhile.

-Glenn Ray
Cypress, Texas

PS My avi is from my trip to Parunuweap last November; that's the lower canyon behind me.

I love hiking, biking, fishing, rock climbing and almost any other outdoor activity. I hope to meet new people who share similar interests and participate in a variety of activities.
