Just returned from a weekend family reunion at Millsite State Park. The weather was less than ideal, but still managed to wet a line and pull in some fish. I caught 5 on various spinning lures (silver and blue Kastmaster and red and white spoons mainly) all from the shore. My sister pulled in 4 on power bait another brother caught 2 on power bait and another brother 1 on power bait.
On Saturday my dad and brothers took off and went up the canyon to Willow Lake and pulled in approx. 36 fish with spinning tackle. They said that the fish would strike almost immediately after the lure hit the water. It was a great weekend and I would like to return again under better weather conditions sometime. |

Na, Catch and release. Haven't eaten fish for a while. Since I've been married my wife doesn't like to cook em and the kids aren't big into it yet. I need to get some time when I can catch one and prepare it myself and not have to worry about what others are going to be eatin. |

Wow, that's Millsite in the picture? I don't even recognize it with the water up so high.
I've heard great things about Willow.
I need more time to fish all of that area. It's sooooooo fishy.

This was my first time to stay at Millsite, from what I was told it is tip top full. Water was running out of the spill way.
I have stayed in the area of Willow Lake before. We used to deer hunt there. Gorgeous area around there. From my recreationalist fishing experience the smaller lakes like Willow seem to offer more fish per square feet. We have a couple of lakes on the mountain above Monticello when I was living there that would offer us a great opportunity to catch as many fish as we could. Throw the line out and with in minutes you would be reeling it back in. Only planter size, not like the larger fish you have to search for in larger bodies of water.
Anyway, in my opinion, usually a bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work. :nod: |
