First I have to apologize for the quality of the pics. I was about to toss this friggin camera but last night just discovered there is a little setting called "underwater mode" buried deep in the menu's. Once I turned that off my camera started taking pictures normally again. So no we really aren't jaundice and the sky is not green.
:frustrated:

But I figured putting them up as is was better than not tossing them up at all. hehe. I'm the guy in the baseball cap, my bro is wearing the white shirt, and jon is in the sleeveless black shirt. You'll notice I put a lot of pic of my bro up. This is simply because of the crappy pics, his white shirt made it easy to color calibrate in photoshop. next time I'll post more of the group.

So me, my bro, and friend jon went to the Green valley Gap yesterday. Was a perfect day for climbing. We had a blast. There are a bunch of runs there that are out of our league but we can handle the 5.9's and 5.10's decently. The first one we climbed was called "the wave", Rated 5.10b and around 30 feet high. it looked pretty tough, but once we got on it, was a little easier than it looked. Really cool climbing up a pillar of rock like that. Has some really weird angles and and a couple tough grabs. but each of us got it on our first try. Woohoo!!

Next one we climbed was called "Beggars and Choosers"- it's 35’- and rated 5.10b. This one was a blast to climb to. I felt this one was harder than the previous one, and about my limit. If it had been any harder i could not have made it without falling a couple times. Especially the starting point. There is a really good hole you can put your foot in, one decent ledge for the right hand, and thats about it. Hehe. Once you get about 10-15 feet up it's really good holds and feet. it overhangs into the valley so you feel like your climbing on the edge of the sky. We did this a bunch of times and had a blast. Probably the best climb I've ever done in my limited experience.

Finally we hit up "luck of the Irish" and is rated 5.9 and 30 feet high. Now seeing that we just climbed some 5.10's, we expected this to be easier than the others. NOT! it was actually the hardest one and we fell a bunch of times trying to figure it out. But i really liked the "puzzle" aspect of it. It wasn't like the others where there is a couple different ways to go up it. There is only one. At least for us, I'm sure a pro has a bunch of tricks up his sleeve. But once we figured it out we could get up it without falling. There was also a boulder you could use to "cheat" and bypass the underhand part. Maybe that was expected and the reason for the lower rating? So the trick was to climb up this little tiny crack which had pretty crappy handholds. Then there was a tiny ledge you could get and entire hands behind. You'll even see in one pic my bro got both his hands on it. Then there where these little "bowl" shaped crevises that you could put your left hand and left leg in for stability. Then you have to reach for this hole that you could get both hands into but it was narrow. maybe 8 inches wide and both hands inside! Then you walk up the crack you just used to handholds. they actuallky make very decent leg holds, just nothing for the finger to grab. Then you were on easy street. Big holds and feet the rest of the way up. very enjoyable climb, except for that first finger ledge was so sharp it killed our fingers like an SOB! Oh well should have some good calisus for next week when we go again.

Hope you enjoyed and any tips or tricks you pros know are lways appreciated or course.

Hehe, thanks Jaxx! I'm bringing him to Bogleyfest next year and he's going to be our "meat anchor", hehehe. 25 lbs of pure fun!

Been going every week now and steadily improving. Except for this week I was way off. I suspect I'm just still tired from Bogleyfest... Ya right! Although it is a convenient excuse, hehe. We tried a couple new runs today. These ones had really hard starts too. I'm starting to realize perhaps rock climbing pics aren't that exciting, and they are mostly ass shots making them even more undesirable, hehe. So this weeks report i'm going with videos.

:five:

Oh and mine was filmed sideways, that why you don't see it. plus i had an off week so not my best performance. Next week!
