Took today off and did a ~70 mile trip from 12 Mile Pass, to US6, East toward Eureka, around the Tintic mountains, and attempted to climb Black Canyon.

Got stuck in 2' of snow, had to chop a few trees down, shovel out 1.5' of snow from under my machine, wedge the afore mentioned trees under all my tires and finally extract myself from the mountain. I was stuck up there over 2 hours. I thought I was going to have to hit the "HELP" button on my SPOT.

What an awesome day!

A few photos:

You got up there a ways. Sure hope that snow melts by next month when I get there. Of course I'll be in Moab and there will most likely be no snow.

I may stop in Marysvale though on the way back for one day.

You shouldn't have an issue with snow down in Moab. Up here, the higher mountains are still in Winter.

Here's my route for today:

:lol8: Ah, Jim..... When I saw you log a find on one of my geocaches out there, I just KNEW you were playing hookey on such a beautiful day! :2thumbs: Good for you, man! I wanted to bail on work sooooo badly and go play, but I didn't. Now the crappy weather is back upon us. Oh well. Maybe this coming weekend it'll be nice and 60+ degrees once more.

Great pics!

I just had to take a day off. The weather was perfect, the environment was awesome, there was hardly a soul around (except the deer).

Great geocache hide. I don't remember you sneaking off into the trees to place that. Nice camo' job on the ammo-can.

Oh, no doubt! As for me... coulda, shoulda, woulda. Next time, right?

Yeah, that cache was hidden almost a year ago when we were on the Geocaching/ATV ride you hosted. Glad you didn't see me sneak away to hide it! :lol8:

Thanks for the compliment on the ammo can camo, too. I do all my own work! Gotta love Wal-Mart rattle can paint, and my wifes leftover floral supply. Works out quite nicely!

You picked a great day! It is awesome having this area right in our backyard. I have been all over these roads. :five:
