Decending into the Inner Gorge of Grand Canyon is a very special experience from North or South Rim but not feasible for people lacking physical strength.
What to do if one wants to visit it anyway - letīs say by SUV? One route from the north brings you down to the brink of the Inner Gorge, reduces the elevation distance to less than 1,000 feet.
But wait a minute - you may also drive down to the river bank.
Peach Springs - Hualapai Reservation - is the starting point. Obtain a dirt road permit at the Hualapai Lodge and start you journey down Peach Springs Wash.
This is a pretty historic route used by guided tourists since 1883. In 1884 Farlee Hotel opened down the Wash nearby the Inner Gorge. Today this route is used by river runnerns as a river access for takeout.
Some pictures from a ride down:
Graveled road into Peach Springs Wash
Cliffs along the road. The canyon deepens, is now Peach Springs Canyon
Freshly graded road. After a flash flood it might look like the area to the right
The usual desert vegetation: Ocotillos
Cactoo too!

Boats and River Runners
Itīs quite hot - more than 100° F. Appreciating some shadow for lunch.
Diamond Creek. Itīs water looks clear and cool but it`s clear only! Running miles through the blazing sun heats the water to more than 100° F - maybe 110° F.
