Haven't been to st. george motorcycling in years. Just got back from riding in st. george and everywhere we use to go is closed. Does any one know when the area out by the armory in bloomington was closed? There were state trust land no ohv's allowed signs everywhere. They have also built a highway in that area that I guess is going to the new airport? Ended up riding over in the washington dam area. Anyone know of other areas down there to ride?

I know how you feel. I grew up there and over Thanksgiving I went out to a few old spots and they were all closed. The area out at the end of Bloomington was closed over the summer when they started the airport. It's still open to motorized use but only on established roads (lame).

Luckily there are so many places to ride there. Are you looking for the park and ride nearby type area or the 40-50 mile trail.

There is of course the Warner Valley out behind Washington Fields. Lots of trails, some sand dunes, and a ton of places to explore. You can park on the warner valley rode behind washingon fields and ride all over the area and there is a great trail that you can take up behind Sand Hollow reservoir.

For the day trip type thing. There are several options.
Coral Pink Sanddunes: you can ride all over up here and it’s only 45 minutes from St. George.

Black Rock exit. A few miles south of st. george on I-15. you can take the dirt roads up over the gorge. The roads start out as normal roads, then fire roads, and finally the farther back you get the more 4 wheeler like they get. Easy to do 60-100 miles loops in this area. Grab an atlas and explore this area. It’s great.

There is Utah Mtn behind Bloomington. Park back at the end of Bloomington on the south-west. Follow dirt road up and over Utah hill and almost all the way into Gunlock. Make a giant loop, all dirt and wash.

There is a great trail up behind St. George by the Turkey farm, that you can follow into Leeds and Pleasant grove. While the road is okay, the various roads that branch off are all worth exploring and some of them lead into some very technical terrain.

Thanks for the info. We rode what we call the washington dam area which I think you are calling warner valley area. One of the best places I have been for smaller kids. My 7 year old wants to just move to the parking lot and live there so he can play on all of those small hills.

We are also looking for more adult areas (go fast see lots of country especially single track). We had a map from the state showing riding out south west of bloomington which I think is the same area you are talking about but could not find where to park?
Have you ridden the road headed out to the grand canyon (arizona strip?). When we passed through all of the closed area and came upon the new four lane road going to the airport we saw a bunch of trailers parked in arizona?

Where do we find the turkey farm?
Any more details would be appreciated. Have spent most all of my time riding in the moab area but my buddies dad bought a condo in st. george so now we have free room :2thumbs:

Okay. It took me couple of days but I’ve got the info together.

Bloomington. You park at the end of Navajo Dr in Bloomington. They closed all the trails north of the dirt road several years ago, something about some gay ass flower. Fooking libs. Anyways, everything south of the road is open. If you’ve ridden the hills out by the armory then its very similar. Lots of jumps, whoops, etc. There is the ability to link some of the trails together with the roads to make big 50+ mile loops. My favorite ride is to follow the dirt road till it hits the main wash and forks. Take the left fork and follow it up to the lookout over the gorge and I15. Then you can follow this all the way through Indian land to the old highway between Ivins and Mesquite and then follow the wash all the way back to the park spot.

Arizona Strip. You can park right on the other side of the new freeway, but I usually continue down the road 10 miles or so. After about 5 miles the signs and fences start to disappear. There are lots of trails that run between here and Colorado City. You can also drive all the way to the school house and start there. There are a great deal of trails running along the north-east and west sides of Mt. Trumbell.

Arizona Strip. Personally I like to park at the Black rock exit and ride the mountains south of St. George. There is true single track in the area and lots of rough fire road and 4 wheeler trail. Park just past the gypsum plant at the main junction. Either road will take you up into the hills and just start exploring. I won’t give away all of the secrets up there but if you make it to the lookout over the gorge there is some superb single track nearby.

Turkey Farm. I’ve placed a map of the hills above st. george. Park where the pavement turns into dirt. You can follow the main road all the way to Pleasant grove but it’s just dirt road. I highly suggest taking all of the spurs that branch off. Especially the ones on the mountain side of the road. Some of those turn into 4 wheeler trails. There is a road that will go all the way to Dammeron Valley. Very rough, but nothing for a dirt bike.

I really appreciate it. Thats alot of good stuff. We drove out the navajo road looking around but didn't go far enough.
