This is disgusting: the first person convicted of rape and murder of two schoolgirls in the mid-eighties using DNA evidence is due to be released on parole/licence.

We're all familiar with DNA profiling and testing & so-on, but this was the first murder conviction. It was also the first time another suspect was cleared, using the same technique.

We don't have the death penalty in the UK any more, but he was deserving of it. He certainly doesn't deserve release aged 61.
