I think what I don't understand in you all is this: we have leftist barbarians smashing down the civilization and they have won. But I now think it isn't necessary. He's probably better than a more radical offering now. Back in the early 1970's the civil unrest was so bad that the National Guard was shooting unarmed college students in the streets. The events that led up to the Kent State shootings and the nationwide rioting in days that followed would easily dwarf the nonsense that is transpiring today.

I guess if you were an avid news-watcher who believed everything you saw reported on CNN then yeah I can see where there might be serious cause to worry. But never forget that the polls and the news that reports on those polls are designed to create an emotional response, and they are rarely accurate. Look at the 2016 election as a prime example.

I think we're all here students of history here and quite knowledgeable. Symptom or cause of our politics, either way.

68 was different, I'm contending. The show of force was by a radical left street and campus movement. The public and the economic powers to be rejected it. Dems were embarrassed at their convention by the street action.

1: No we don't. A vast majority of Americans are watching it on TV or going about their business in other ways, not marching in the streets. Neither you nor I have the ability to determine what is swirling around in their heads. Some think what they saw happen to that guy was awful, others think good riddance, one less criminal to contend with.

Saw my first Biden yard sign today...and right next door is one for Trump. I wonder if they get along?

I'm surrounded by liberal old women who are going to be voting for Trump. They're scared and bothered by the violence...every single one of them has told me this, except for Claudia. She swallowed the big blue pill long ago...

Prior to the latest round of mayhem, I'd never really talked to Carol, Carla, Sara, Dana, Claudia or Pat (the old ladies that surround me here at my condo) about politics...but most of them have said something like "You don't have to say a word, Byron...you're dripping Conservative"

They've never held it against me. They treat me like I hung the moon...probably more a symptom of my being Mr. Helpful and Handy. I've saved each one of them hundreds and in some cases more than a thousand dollars vs. overpriced repairs and maintenance. Sometimes I'll ask for payment of services, sometimes they just give me money when I say "Don't bother, it was a piece of cake" other times they cook me food and leave little notes and valentines at my door. Claudia included...dropping off cookies with her grey T-shirt with the words "Resist" on it.

War and hatred certainly isn't a certainty with opposing politics.

I truly don't understand why anyone would run to these people...I would avoid them. Leave them in the dust behind me.

Where are the racists? Who are they? Who are these people they're going to vanquish? Is it you? Me? The people that live down the street? Can they put a face on the enemy?...'cause it seems to me like they're witch doctors who promise to excise demons.

They can't identify their tormentors...but you can't help thinking that they're pointing their fingers at YOU...and that's a winning formula? Guilt and shame? For what? Inequality? They're even warning us it'll get worse if they don't win.

The Republican convention is next week and I'll be the first to point out if it gets into bizzaro world...but I can't imagine it'll be anything near this whackiness...particularly because they actually can point to their tormentors...they're tearing up cities as I write this.

Crazy that this is what it's come to...one side trying to stop the other that's threatening destruction and disorder. I was a bit too young to sharply remember 1972 but I think this is history repeating itself.

So like I said this morning...now that it's over the analysis occurs. Forget what the conservatives say, listen to the liberals themselves...they were served up a bunch of very wealthy celebrities lecturing us on "wealth inequality"...they paid virtually no attention the working class America. They ignored the violence and offered zero support for law enforcement. To top it all off they offered nothing to Trump supporters but to call them all despicable pieces of shit.

Strange how these people have the best speech writers, the top end of Hollywood production and a budget of millions upon millions and they couldn't combine all that to make a truly persuasive argument...it's like they just winged it.

It was like a twisted American Idol convention...like they're targeting airheads that are celebrity obsessed who stare at their phones all day. And you know the strangest part of the whole damn thing? They insist that "the big corporations" are the enemy but will vote those very people to run the country.

I said three years ago that the Dem party needed a complete overhaul...but it didn't happen. There's no one at the helm, it's a free for all. I think what we're seeing is the collapse of what was a truly powerful organization...fractured all to hell with a bunch of elites living in a different world. They're exposed and it's there for all to see...no wonder none of my liberal friends want to talk about politics.

It'll be interesting to see what fills the vacuum...because all these out of touch gasbags will be history after this election. I'm sure they'll try to bring up some new meat, but I can't see how it'll take because they literally cannot be moderate anymore. We'll never see another Dem politician stand in front of Mt. My mother suffers from dementia and it would not stop her from reading a speech from a teleprompter in the least. The problem is three hours later she may or may not remember what she read. Her short term memory is completely shot and when I listen to Biden he is exactly like my mother.

The dementia would also not stop my mother from debating and she would give reasonable or good answers to many or most of the questions, particularly regarding topics she was well versed in 10 years ago.

But sooner or later you will ask my mother a question and get a crazy answer, and it's because at that moment she is somewhere else in time. Again... I see the exact same things in Biden.

The problem with ducking out is that he'll lose some "on the fence" voters for sure. He's gonna take a hit, but it seems like he's got less to lose by doing them than not.

Some have called this elder abuse (myself included) but I think Jill is just taking him on the "goodbye tour"...the last hurrah. He took the challenge because he just wanted to make one last mark and she knows that this is probably the only thing keeping him alive and somewhat alert.

After the election she'll plop him into a chair and try to make him comfortable on his way out.
