My family is heading down to the blanding area this weekend. My kids are fairly active and highly capable for their ages. Any suggestions?

Edge of the Cedars museum in Blanding...it's very good and will eat up at least 2 hours. Then go to Natural Bridges Nat. Monument and hike down the trail at Supai Bridge...go UPSTREAM until you're ready to head back to the trail. You'll have a wonderful time and see really nice ruins. Make sure you bring food down with you on the hike and give yourself most of a day to do it.

Hiking Bullet Canyon to the confluence with Grand Gulch (and back) is a great all day hike as well and you'll see some of the best ruins around. Beautiful canyon.
Stop at the Kane Gulch ranger station to get info on it...the trailhead is only a few miles down the road.

These places for hiking are more than 30 miles west of Blanding...so you may want to get a room there or camp out at Natural Bridges, which has nice campsites.

I'm not familiar with anything really close to Monticello...I always just pass thru there. Although there is nice hiking in the mountains west of town, but too cold and wet for that now.
