How many of you routinely carry either pulleys, dmm revolvers, petzl rollclip, or similar?

I started carrying a rescue pulley circa 2005 after reading the details on the Aaron Ralston accident (and eventually added a revolver - but mainly used it to minimize rope drag when climbing).

Anyway, I used them sparingly (very) for a few years... (Probably more as a, "solution in search of a problem" as my son likes to say.) Then, it worked it's way to the bottom of my pack and stayed there... For a long time.

However, I recently had the occasion to use one again and was glad to have it (a 3 to 1 w/ ascender as rope grab).

30 plus-something years of canyoneering and never carried a pulley...

Light is right and lighter is righter..

YMMV

I've never needed one, although I carry a microtraxion as part of my ascending setup so I have used one hauling people out of potholes a time or two.
