Woa! Killed a lion with his bare hands! What a stud! A good reminder to always be aware of your surroundings (i.e. leave the earbuds at home so you can HEAR also).

I hope he does something with the fur for bragging rights

DNR will take the fur, the runner will never see it. But I agree, he should get it and it should be a good fur as it's in its winter coat.

FWIW - Last time I hunted cougars a good skin was bringing over $3000 before tanning.

It was a starving juvenile cat. If it was a full grown healthy adult the outcome would have been drastically different.

Back in the day I was chased by a cougar more then once... but they can't run very fast in high heels.

Yup, BTDT, but I chose to run very slowly. nay walk-fast to ensure they caught me! :ne_nau:

Now, as it relates to this story, I've had many, many encounters will full grown cats and I'm here to tell you, when I'm in an area where I know mountain-lions exist, even if just snow-shoeing, I will bring my .45. Used it once, pretty sure that cat died somewhere up the mountain from Circleville, Utah. I've had enough encounters with big cats that I can feel them well before I hear or see them.. they are stealthy and will follow you quite some ways before they decide you're on-the-menu..

Hiked a mile or so up a fresh snow covered track while deeer hunting a few years ago. It started snowing hard enough that I bagged it and headed back down. There was a set of cat tracks in my tracks for a long way. Creeped me out for the whole way down... how close was it?
