Cancer is so complex, I think there are legitimately a few cures out there already. The problem with us is, we expect it in a pill. But people are beating cancer now, it just takes a lot of work and time.

Yep. My son is LIVING proof. Chemo, radiation and a bone marrow transplant. It took nearly 3 years and was the hardest thing we've ever had to go through but, all combined, it worked. FWIW, I have several friends who tried the "natural" remedies. They are all dead. The latest was a good friend from my musical theater life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago. They decided to go the "natural" route. A year later they were celebrating her cancer beat-down all over social media and touting how natural treatments saved her and anyone going the chemo / traditional treatment route were fools led by big pharma. 6 months after that and she's dead. Sad.

While cancer treatment is a lot better it's still a huge crap shoot... I've lost many good friends and family to cancer and I've had a lot beat it. It's just a roll of the dice.

In the olden days, people died of "old age". You would never see that on a death certificate now. The modern world of medicine has not only allowed us, through advanced medical means, to live much longer but also allowed our means of death to be determined.

This obviously doesn't apply to TallSteve's situation with his son, but there are parallels. As a population worldwide, we are all living too long and through advanced medicine and healthcare in general, preventing natural selection from taking place.

A friend of mine is a retired heart surgeon. He told me that most people, when they "hit the wall" are put on drugs to thin their blood. He said that, along with a moderately healthy diet, can prolong someone's life by 10 years. I read somewhere that people will probably never live to be 100, on average.

I saw a really good documentary about Bob Marley and his last words (said to his son Ziggy) were "Money can't buy you life, son".

Surely they'll come up with all the cures...but what'll it cost? Ever see the movie Elysium? Matt Damon totally sucks, BTW...and the movie is just so-so, but it's the gist of it. The have's and have not's.

Why were they all celebrating one year later? Did recent tests confirm remission? :ne_nau:

Were they all anti-vaxxers as well? That sounds like something anti-vaxxers would say and do.
