Looking someone up in a phone book. Btw, why do I still keep getting local phone books dropped off on my doorstep? They go right from the doorstep to the trash. Does anyone still use them? The bigger question is though, why would any business still pay to have an ad in one?

Driving a stick shift.

Which is a shame, really. I prefer driving a manual over an automatic.

Everyone in my family still owns and drives a stick. My oldest daughter recently bought a new Mustang GT (450hp) with the 6-speed manual.

So why it's not as common as it once was there are still a lot of kids who own and drive sticks. Just about every kid you see driving a Subaru is driving a stick as I know the local Subaru dealer stocks about 80% manuals. Go to one of the local car meet-ups the kids do these days and it's 90% sticks.

Yup, she owns the fastest car in the family. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as it bothers her grandpa that she can blow the doors off of his GTO.

I've honestly been thinking about buying the Hot Young Stripper Wife a Mustang GT. The performance per dollar that car provides is nearly impossible to beat.

I taught all 4 of my kids to drive a stick and at least one of our family cars at any one time was a stick. None of them own a stick now but, they often mention they are glad they at least know how and how none of their friends can.

Yeah it's a dying skill, sadly. Growing up all of my friends + myself all knew how to drive a stick. Outside of Tallsteve & Iceaxe's kids I don't know anyone under 21 who is capable of driving a stick. Not claiming that no more exist out there, but I think we can all agree that the percentage of kids who grew up with a knowledge of how to drive a stick 30 years ago is much lower than it is today.

This is made worse by car companies pandering to the crowds who don't know how to drive a manual transmission -- I'm looking at you Toyota, who got rid of the manual transmissions in all 4Runners past the 4th generation. I understand you can still get a Tacoma with manual transmission, but only on select models.

FWIW: Both of my daughters had a good job at the local car dealership while going to college. And one of the big reasons they got the job was because they could drive a stick as part of there job involved moving the inventory around.

I also got a job when I was a teenager partly because I could drive a stick (of course it was more common back then- 70's). Anyone remember the old Heidelberg Restaurant in Farmington? I parked cars.
